Hoosiers jumping from ADIDAS to Jordan Brand??

Recommended Posts

I'm confused. Is this hypothetical or something that's actually in the works? I think it would be wiser for us to go to Nike and allow ourselves to wear Jordan shoes on the court.

There was a spam post from a fake Jordans website that brought this thread back from last summer.

Don't we have the largest living alumni base in the country? Pair that with banner 6 and we got huge leverage with any outfitting company :)

We also have the worst football program in the entire history of college football. Football drives the big bucks. Unless Nick Saban wants to come to Bloom and resurrect a program that hasnt had any signs of life since its inception, then don't expect any eye popping numbers. You'll only be disappointed. The alumni base and the basketball tradition will land us a ton of free gear and a sizable percentage of the merchandise sales.

That's the rumor, but I really don't care. The swoosh won't make us play any better than the 3 stripes.

If we switch to Jordan then there won't be a swoosh anywhere. It'll be Jordan.

That's a technicality, it's still Nike. And my point still stands, Nike or Jordan or UA will not make us any better than Adidas.

And I think a rebranding and change of focus would be good for basketball and football.

Well it could. We have been recruiting more UA kids recently.

Eh some kids might care what logo it is, but I think fans may go overboard on how much of a factor it is.  A different logo on the shoe won't take the football out of the cellar, and won't make Wisconsin stop owning us in basketball (and football).  All the companies have made ugly uniforms and fans can still get gear made by different companies.

I truly don't care what logo is on the shoe, and don't really get what the outrage against Adidas is all about since they're all the same if you take the logo off anyway.  At the end of the day it doesn't matter what we want, the university will go with which company gives them the best offer.

Well they aren't the same. Adidas makes very cheap shoes. It's what my school got when I was in HS and a reason they gave you free pairs when yours broke. I've wore them plenty. I've had a pair of DRoses and they were the worst shoes I've ever bought. I have a pair of LeBrons and they're great. I have a pair of Steph Currys and they are the greatest shoes I've ever had. Amazing ankle support. So the brand greatly matters. It also matters for how that brand will brand your school.

I've had Nikes fall about and Adidas hold up fine and never noticed a bit of difference in support.
