"we have no minutes" really isn't a great recruiting pitch No, we needed a bench big and guard. The problem is that we still need a bench big and guard after signing the German kid and Monden. I doubt either will contribute next season. As others have said, ideally the 3 freshmen would be guys 11-13, but it seems as if the staff is counting on them to contribute next season. That’s a risky move given that they’re good, but not top tier, prospects. Regardless, though, I prefer what the staff has done this year compared to loading up on mid major guys like last year. That's not ideal or realistic and would be incredibly disappointing if those FR were spots 11-13. Quote

But, for me, when 2 of them likely aren’t ready for B1G play that really hinders the team. Karvala and Manhertz should be ecstatic we are penalizing ourselves in terms of roster build. Literally no competition for playing time. My mind is blown. And now we have full staff and a GM concluding this is the way to backfill a roster. how does it compare to other teams bottom of the roster? Are you saying you would rather just leave the last 2 spots open? Players either want paid or playing time (often both). Not sure what you are expecting for free end of the bench players (and by free I mean only paid with a free education). Hollywood Mike Miranda 1 Quote

I’ll come back to this in a few weeks when rosters are finished with specific examples. Michigan state for example have a bunch of 4 star freshman taking up roster spots 9-12. Louisville who is like us, just added a top 60 rated 2026 kid as their 11th or 12th. Quote

The best teams for next season like Duke, Michigan, Florida, Texas, etc are filling spots 9-13 with freshman of different degrees of ranking. this is the track we’d be on if we signed Clemens then 2 playable guys. Manhertz, Clemens, Karvala, Moody could have been 10-13. What isn’t known is just because a player is slotted there doesn’t mean that’s how they will perform. Wagler is the ultimate example of this. I’d rather be developing FR at the end of the bench. The best ones will play and stay. The other ones might leave. No harm, no foul. Edited Wednesday at 05:21 PM by WayneFleekHoosier Quote
