First, go to the hypr and find a feaking big. :) I would prohibit those stupid long threes early in the shot clock -- it's a freaking turnover. Run a chit ton more action, screens, movement, etc. Maybe do some Princeton offense stuff, designed for weaker teams. Maybe try to fast break a little more. Something, anything, than what we are doing. May not be any better. May get run out of the gym. But It's something different and it ain't "chuck and duck." We may still suck, but it won't be for lack of trying. Uspshoosier 1 Quote

Maybe neither should start yet. Could easily argue we need 5 starters from the portal to be competing at the top. Crazy. And who wants to commit to Indiana right now unless we overpay. I mean, he absolutely has his work cut out for him. I just don’t see a path tbh. The path imo is overseas pros and find a great scout who can identify. That’s the only path I see working. If this season continues the way it's looking, we'll be in worse shape. Good players don't want to play for losing programs. Look at football -- a few wins and everyone wants in. Between now and end of season CDDv needs to prove he has a plan -- something he can sell to portal kids. Add the right pieces and multiply the results. Quote

At some point players need to put their big boy pants on and play. Yep, no point in traveling across the globe to bring a guy in who is know where ready and may not ever be ready. He didn’t pass the eye test on the highlight videos i’m sure for most of us, so not sure what the coaches were seeing? Looks like we will have to overpay to get back on track like Waynefleek suggested, but you still have to identify the right players for your system. DDV has his work cut out. Maybe things would’ve been better with Harris/Drake in the mix. Hope they get back soon. Quote

While some fans see this year as a lost cause the coaching staff still has a path for a successful year. Playing an international Big that isn’t ready or getting a random tall person at a gym just because they are big and different doesn’t mean it’s the right answer. IU is still right in the mix for an at-large bid as of today. My guess is he is going to ride the 8 healthy scholarship players until they drop and see what happens. FortWayneHoosier 1 Quote

Yeah, that's why they get paid the big bucks. But rulling them out to do the same chit, different day isn't going to work. Have you honestly seen anything, adjustments, something, that turns us into a bubble team? Not just the math, but real, tangible game activity. With 10 min left in the 2nd half we were tied at 53. We lost by 21, having only scored 7 points in the final 10 min. That is rec league bad. Quote

IU isn’t the only team fighting for a spot that is flawed. USC got smashed by 30 pts back to back at Michigan and Sparty. Bubble teams are on the bubble for a reason. Ius struggles don’t happen in a vacuum. Just got to see how the do against other teams fighting for a spot. 4 Q1a losses just tell us they are not a top tier team personally I want to see how they do against teams like Iowa, Wisky, usc and ucla LIHoosier, FortWayneHoosier and Home Jersey 3 Quote

Lack of offensive rebounding for put backs/kick outs and low post block outs/rebounding is a huge part of what we are missing. I'm confident that next year we'll have the low post presence that we desire. DeVries coached under both Altman and McDermott, both of whom always seem to have decent Bigs. I assume we swung and missed on some portal Bigs and then decided to go with what we have now. I believe that DeVries will make sure that issue is addressed early in the portal this offseason. I'm hoping this current team maximizes their strengths and finishes the season strong. Artie86 1 Quote
Claxdj01 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I’m giving the benefit of the doubt for now. He got thrown in, got together the team he could. They have some talent and can be exciting to watch. Just don’t always put it together. jermhoosierfan 1 Quote
Hoosier987 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Regarding next year, we more than likely will need another transfer portal haul, partly because we're old and partly because it appears the latter half of our bench is unplayable at this level. IMO, Dorn and Sisley are the two guys we build the team around for next year. I'm not saying they will be our 1 and 2 for the 2027 season, but that they are 2 players that we should strive to retain from this year's team....after all, they are in this year's 8 man rotation. str8baller and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
