WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Brutal and kinda embarrassing season. Feel bad for Shay, and most of the rest of the team. They are competing. Just aren’t good enough. Miss the stretch of the teams we’ve had in the past. They were very efficient and tough. Bummer. Quote
TTT Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Nyemchek, Battle, and Jackson as freshman (they are good but not that good) will get bullied in big ten level without a couple bigger time impact players from transfer portal to compliment what is already on IU Ladies roster including keeping key players already on roster. I simply do not understand your constant belittlement of a freshman IU woman basketball player. Am I the only IU women's basketball FAN on this forum? Seems to me that almost everybody else needs to make themselves feel important by pointing out the weaknesses of a group of college women doing their best to win games. We just lost to the number 11 team in the USA by 3 points with 2 freshmen and 2 sophomore starters. LamarCheeks Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Gonna invoke a little Mike Davis here -- help is on the way. As of now, we have a Top 10 recruiting class coming in. A poster here who seems to have good knowledge of the program said many of this season's problems stem from CTM's reluctance to get into the NIL game. She apparently was a little too old-school and wanted to believe things could remain status quo, and players would come to IU because they wanted to come to IU. She didn't fully accept that it's gonna take $$$ to get better talent. But now she has. We have a decent base now, but it's young and raw. Give them some seasoning and pair them up with the newcomers and I think (hope) that we'll be good again. Maybe not for another year or two, but we'll get there. My fear is that the young talent we do have will get discouraged with this mediocrity and want to bolt. Hope that's not the case, but you never know ... Also feel bad for Shea. She's been fantastic this season -- and we're wasting it. WayneFleekHoosier and J34 2 Quote

More help is also on the way for a ton of good teams as well. I do feel for Shea. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
NatHillIV Posted January 12 Posted January 12 "The best NCAA Women's Basketball seed in Indiana (IU) history is aNo. 1 seed, which the Hoosiers earned for the first time ever in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, becoming the second-highest No. 1 seed overall that year. Before that, their highest seeds were No. 3 (2022) and No. 4 (2021) when they also made deep tournament runs to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight. Pretty good for a coach who "hasn’t been able to build a complete title contending team here." :) J34 1 Quote

My only guess is it’s a family member of a bench player not get run. As far as the fan bit? I think we are all fans posting in here. Moren set a high standard and built a solid fanbase. All the credit to her. When you build that with winning, fans get an expectation. If they continue to lose like this the fanbase will disappear again like it was pre-Moren. Im a little shocked we are as bad as we are. The youth argument is valid, but the staff built the roster with plenty of transfers. They didn’t get the right ones or ones good enough clearly. So this year becomes a write off. I haven’t lost faith in Moren, just disappointed in not being competitive and believe it’s more than age. We need more talent too. Not gonna be an easy flip back to relevancy. NatHillIV 1 Quote

Hope that's not the case, but you never know ... This is my biggest worry. Players are leaving good teams these days. Many coaches have to re-recruit their entire roster in the spring now. It's why I'm skeptical when I see people saying we'll be really good in 2 years. We have no idea who will be here next year, let alone 2 years. We'll have to do a lot better in the portal this time around, because I could easily see current players leaving. A college basketball team shouldn't have the lengthy scoring droughts we do unless something is seriously broken. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Sorry but not sorry, have bought season tickets, gone to away games, bought all the dumb streams and it’s pretty sad how terrible they are. Do not personally know one player on the team. Maya is supposed to be a savior and is terrible. Outside of Z and Shay they aren’t very good, sorry for my opinion that a new coach is needed after frankly all the short comings over the years. Quote

You've gone out of your way to bash her any chance you get. You were complaining about her after a game where she scored 20 points. You even criticized her high school team and said she padded stats and beat up on a bunch of nobodies even though her high school played one of the hardest schedules in the state last season. We're all frustrated with where the program is right now, but your constant attacks on a freshman are just bizarre. WayneFleekHoosier, Class of '66 Old Fart and NatHillIV 3 Quote
