mamasa Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 I didn’t like the way Caffey gave up the defense after the turnover. She looked around like she was looking for someone to blame Stuhoo 1 Quote

reconmkd Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Ladies have a TON to work on this weekend! I would have practice at 6 am and start with not fouling and blocking out? Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted November 8, 2025 Author Posted November 8, 2025 72-56 Hoosier win and moved to 2-0 on the season. Next Tuesday we host Marshall. Must have been an interesting fireside chat in the locker room at halftime. All IU in the 2nd half. 35 pts. for Ciezki on 12-21 FG, 6-10 on 3s and 4-4 FT. Z with 19 pts an 13 reb. mamasa 1 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Ciezki kicking a$$ and taking names. Damn that girl can shoot 70% from 3 on 10 shots, lol WayneFleekHoosier and mamasa 2 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 I really didn’t understand when some here downplayed Socka coming into the season. She’s a beast, and she and Ciezki play off each other with the long-range and inside game well mamasa 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 That was pretty rough. Not enough shooters on this team. Not enough scoring options. Maybe more Stotjin and definitely less Kadlecova. Beaumont has to stop lurching toward the rim on jump shots. Cziezki is outstanding, but she won’t do that often and better competition will focus on making someone else score. Caffey is really really good. She’s not really a scoring option, but she might need to become one sooner rather than later. Zania makes mistakes but she is so very talented. Makalusky was better tonight, but she does not move well at all. For me that was a discouraging watch, even with the shutdown defense in the second half. mamasa 1 Quote
TTT Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 As time goes on by necessity and not a star but solidly Makalusky is going to have to find her way as a starter on the floor for a few rebounds, 10 points a game with some physicality. It’s just a matter of time until she is inserted into the the starting lineup. Quote

I hope your option to replace Kadlecova isn’t maya because that’s not it by any means Stuhoo 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Not our best performance. Shay and Z carried. Especially Shay. Gonna need to find a reliable 3rd bucket getter at minimum. The missed bunnies for Kadlecova were tough to watch. UIC got hot and we held them off. Not going to panic yet. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Quote

For me the fifth starter should be Stotjin. Better ballhandler, stronger, quicker, better body language, just not as good a distance shooter. Quote
TTT Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 I think Stotjin got hot at Arkansas towards end of last year as a shooter. Makalusky in high school has always been pretty stiff and not fast. However, IU Ladies need another big on the floor. Actually, though I think Makalusky needs to be a starter both Stotjin and Makalusky can play somwhat divided minutes depending on performance. Use Kadlecova as a utility player as needed. Makalusky sister played pretty well at Butler and started scoring as time went on and Maya was quite a bit better player of the two. Quote
TTT Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Maya Makalusky once in a great while/not often in high school would make a quick determined move to the basket….it seemed when she got the courage/confidence to do so. Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 This game gave me vibes of last November when we lost to Butler and Harvard. Hate to say it but I think this is going to be a lot like last year where Moren has to squeeze blood from a turnip and we struggle to reach 20 wins. Stuhoo 1 Quote

New team, frosh in starting lineup getting her college legs, less reliance on deep shooting, playing at a much faster pace— which requires more cohesiveness as a unit. We’ll know a lot more as the team gets closer to the midway point. This is just 1 early game with a new team and style of play Quote

The major problem is at starting four, and lord forbid when Zania is not in the game. Any time she gets in foul trouble we’ll suffer, and if she sprains an ankle we’ll be a bottom half team in conference. Quote

Hell yes! It’s just that as a freshman she’s may not be ready for a major role, and we don’t have many options. Quote
