Class of '66 Old Fart

IUWBB vs UIC - Friday, 11.07.25 @ 7:00 on B1G+

Recommended Posts

72-56 Hoosier win and moved to 2-0 on the season.  Next Tuesday we host Marshall.

Must have been an interesting fireside chat in the locker room at halftime.  All IU in the 2nd half.  35 pts. for Ciezki on 12-21 FG, 6-10 on 3s and 4-4 FT.  Z with 19 pts an 13 reb.

That was pretty rough.

Not enough shooters on this team. Not enough scoring options. Maybe more Stotjin and definitely less Kadlecova. Beaumont has to stop lurching toward the rim on jump shots.

Cziezki is outstanding, but she won’t do that often and better competition will focus on making someone else score.

Caffey is really really good. She’s not really a scoring option, but she might need to become one sooner rather than later. Zania makes mistakes but she is so very talented. Makalusky was better tonight, but she does not move well at all.

For me that was a discouraging watch, even with the shutdown defense in the second half.

As time goes on by necessity and not a star but solidly Makalusky is going to have to find her way as a starter on the floor for a few rebounds, 10 points a game with some physicality.  It’s just a matter of time until she is inserted into the the starting lineup.

I hope your option to replace Kadlecova isn’t maya because that’s not it by any means

Not our best performance. Shay and Z carried. Especially Shay. Gonna need to find a reliable 3rd bucket getter at minimum.

The missed bunnies for Kadlecova were tough to watch.

UIC got hot and we held them off. Not going to panic yet.

I know that Makulsky is a November freshman, but she looks pretty stiff moving around currently. For me the fifth starter should be Stotjin.

Better ballhandler, stronger, quicker, better body language, just not as good a distance shooter.

I think Stotjin got hot at Arkansas towards end of last year as a shooter.

Makalusky in high school has always been pretty stiff and not fast.  However, IU Ladies need another big on the floor.  Actually, though I think Makalusky needs to be a starter both Stotjin and Makalusky can play somwhat divided minutes depending on performance.  Use Kadlecova as a utility player as needed.

Makalusky sister played pretty well at Butler and started scoring as time went on and Maya was quite a bit better player of the two.
