Commits to UConn.

UConn fans are viewing this as a similar situation to the Adams/Mullins one last year. They really want Dylan Mingo. Some debate about if they're going to play the same kind of role or not. They agree Mingo is still a take even if it means County walks, but they like County enough to accept his commitment and see how it shakes out.

In other words, "Meh"

Would think they would take both no problem because Mingo really wants to play on ball and County is strictly a 2. But if it was either/or that’s not even close. Mingo’s a lottery kid.

pickin's are getting slim though

At Pguard they are pretty much dry.   Feels like overseas, portal, or a later bloomer.   We need a stud at PG so we need to do our due diligence.  I didn’t love County though so I’m ok.  Portal backup option certainly alleviates the pain of recruiting misses.

The point guard pickings are not getting slim.

I have highlighted the primary source for a point guard, which in my opinion, should be either be a five star freshman (which is a very, very limited universe), or someone with documented, successful college basketball experience before they start for IU, which is an infinitely larger universe.

Most teams don't make runs with freshman starting point guards anyway. Also County wasn't a point guard so that doesn't even apply to him as far as those types of comments go.

And that’s kinda how I feel about the whole team next year.  That balance between star freshman recruit vs more experienced portal player.  Like Michigan this year with McKinney.  He’s good enough to probably start most places and likely won’t at Michigan. That’s a tremendous problem to have.   I think Taylor would start.  I’m sure Thompson would start.  Not sure you want 3 or more Freshman in your projected starting lineup these days.
