This is going to be a tough game depending on how well IU Ladies handle what Purdue will try to be physical and rebound with IU and make shots vs IU Ladies staying focused on what makes them at their best.

IU Ladies stayed focused and answered the call.

(The very top teams have beat Pdue by 30++ in West Laffy this year).

Would not be surprised if Purdue does fire Geralds but who knows.

0-8 against IU and just lost to us at home by 20 to end their season because they didn't make the Big Ten tournament in her fourth year...yeah, definitely some reasons to pull the trigger.

Like Mike Woodson, Katie Gearlds is the "hump" keeping Purdue basketball from getting back to their former greatness. The situations are remarkably similar with both being totally unqualified sentimental hires of alums who do not have what it takes to be competitive in the Big Ten. Whether it be coaching in the NAIA or NBA, neither remotely prepares someone for coaching at this level of college basketball.

There is only one small difference between Woodson and Gearlds. Woodson has made the head-to-head series between the Hoosiers and Boilers far more competitive then it has been in a long time. Gearlds on other hand has never beaten Indiana and combined with the end of the awfulness of the Versyp era, IU has now won 13 straight in series.

Katie Gearalds has been a complete mystery to me.
Her record at Marian?  227–49
I know the Big10 is a different beast, but who would have guessed such a terrible record over her 4 years?

Glad IU came to play today.  Happy for Lilly and Lexus.  They had good games and we need for them to contribute.

Maryland-OSU game is a real hum-dinger.

227-49 at Marian does not prepare you for the gauntlet of the Big Ten just as 315 NBA coaching wins did not prepare Woodson to coach in this league. Both have the wrong type of experience to succeed at the top of D1 basketball and were unqualified alumni hires.

Same as my sister being a child and law attorney would not qualify her to do a good job as a property lawyer. She knows the basics of the latter and could get a job there but would not do as good of work there since it is not her area.

Just like all areas of law are different, all areas of coaching at different levels are not the same and anyone who tries to move to a job completely different from their last is likely to struggle despite knowing the industry overall. Its really no mystery why Gearlds and Woodson have failed when you put in the correct perspective.

Tell that to the Ben McCollum thread.

I would say Ben McCollum coaching at DII is far closer to coaching in the Big Ten than coaching at the NAIA or NBA level. However, your point is well taken!
