eddy4iu Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 You apply for tickets by the 3/31 priority deadline to insure that your priority points will be used for the seat selection process that will take place in May. If your points warrant selection within the tier you requested you will be allowed to select from those sections and will also be assessed a seat "donation" that is associated with that tier on top of the ticket price. If your points do not warrant selection in the tier you requested you will drop into a lower tier that is commensurate with your priority point standing and will select from those sections. Additional seat "donations" apply to all tiers with the exception of tier 5. Here is a seating chart showing tiers, ticket prices and applicable seat "donations." Demo Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 Someone came across my feed this morning straight out of her mind over apparently losing her family tickets of 30 years and being bumped up a pretty good ways. Curious, just how much did season tickets go up this year? WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Curious, just how much did season tickets go up this year? I can only speak to my relative cost for Tier 1 seats this year vs last. Last year's per season ticket price was $496 vs $476 this year. There were 8 home games last year so $62/game. There are 7 home games this year so $68/game. If course, the Private Seat Donation is new this year and adds $250/season ticket to the cost. Quote

Curious, just how much did season tickets go up this year? They hit the cheap seats hard. My two order confirmations; top last year bottom for this year. Also, through re-seating the entire stadium this offseason, those that just have football tickets are getting booted down the priority list for people that have had basketball points build up over the years and are getting in on football now. I don’t have that issue because I’m not very picky where I sit at Memorial, but the post you’re referencing may be dealing with that more than the money piece. Demo and MemphisHoosier 1 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Some folks are upset with the reseat and increase in prices. I get having that initial reaction and I appreciate the long-term supporters of IUFB and hope the ticket office treats them as well as possible. And maybe the athletic dept could have explained this better, but Scott's email to season ticket holders did mention some reasons why this happening. Upset fans have to understand some important facts: 1) The team is better. You can have great seats for cheap if the team stinks, or worse seats for more money if the team is good. Easy choice. There aren't many bad seats at Memorial and there are still reasonably priced options. 2) The stadium is better. The concessions and other amenities are improved and pretty nice. The seats are the same, but the team has the fans standing a lot more. 3) The big one: Since Tom Allen was fired, the annual cost for the football team has increased by ~$20M for players and ~$12M for the staff. $30M+ more per year is a lot for IU to fund, and that number is still increasing. This is the reality of competing in college football. Media rights increases help, but funding needs exceed that and there are no money trees growing in the Arboretum. Bigger football programs charge their fans a lot more than IU. If we want to be a bigger football program, this is where things are going. Fans directly and indirectly fund basically the whole program. At the end of the day, you can still get tickets for $40/game and if you can walk a mile parking can be free or <$10 -- that's a great deal in today's sports entertainment world. Or, you can buy a pricey parking pass next to the stadium and get Hall of Champs seats. There is something for everyone. But, IU is going to have to charge more for football tickets. Fortunately, the team is justifying those increases. AZ Hoosier, MemphisHoosier, HoosierX and 2 others 5 Quote

I'm just gonna say this to play devil's advocate. Some of us don't really invest too much into basketball tickets but care immensely about football pump our cash into it. And have been for decades. These folks seem to be getting the shaft by fair-weather fans (I'm calling it what it is about these fans. Those who know, know.). And I take issue with it, even if I don't have a dog in the fight. If this is even true, but someone that has had season tickets for 30 years getting booted is just wrong. If we start seeing the opposing teams colors in these seats then there's even a bigger problem. Now taking off the devil's advocate cap. Hopefully IU will be a football first school. And if that occurs, we'll have to deal with the basketball points build up folk wanting a coach fired after one series of downs. Hide and watch. Having said all of that, I am extremely thankful we are having these kinds of issues. It means IUFB is WINNING!!!! Get on this wagon, there's plenty of room. MemphisHoosier and sirhoosierlot 2 Quote

I think it’s BS, but I also understand college sports economics and will admit I don’t have an answer for it. Alienating your most loyal fans might sting in the long run, especially if (and hopefully it doesn’t) water finds its level with IU football. MemphisHoosier and Lebowski 2 Quote

Yeah man, it's a pretty freakin' sh!tty situation if you ask me. Bending over the one true fan that has been on this wagon from the start is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. It won't just so long as Cig is still calling the shots. We need to get used to this and fully understand what kind of product we're going to get every year. Hovadipo and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Trying to operationalize who is a loyal fan and make adjustments for them would be a complete nightmare IMO. What would constitute special treatment? 5 years? 10 years? 15 years? Then the people who don't make the cut-off are pissed. Do they get a discounted price? For how long? Trying to deal with all of that would be a major headache and ultimately a drag on revenue for a successful team. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
