TTT Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Another terrible foul call against Parrish followed by air ball. Refs continue to keep IU in check. Quote
mamasa Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Horrid officiating, and I’m really not a “yell at the officials” person Todd41 and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote
TTT Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 At end of 3 UCLA very focused but at least 75% of 50/50 with a few just bad calls going against IU allowing UCLA being physical but not allowing IU to be as physical. ON IU HOME COURT. and yes things are a little easier for UCLA Quote
LamarCheeks Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Betts is like Edey — gets to stay in the lane forever. mamasa 1 Quote
maharkn Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 She needs to move on from lily. Plan for the future and she shouldn’t be in that plan. Not a caliber player if this team wants to make a runSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
TheWatShot Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Good thing the conference is so big now that we only have to play this team once. Quote
TTT Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Yardon Garzon ball handling, going to the basket, strength and scoring in traffic is improving. Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Great game from Garzon. Should’ve pushed like this the whole game Quote
TTT Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Refs kept IU Ladies in check for first half especially including effecting IU Ladies shooting rhythm confidence. IU partially due to UCLA defense could not make 3s and missed open 3s. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
Todd41 Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Second quarter, besides officiating, is the story for this game. Tough fight in the second half but could not buy a 3. J34 1 Quote

They've been vaporizing everyone in their path and I could see us getting way behind right out of the gate. Not a good call but a great call! Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 We're close but we just aren't yet at the truly elite level in women's bball Quote

If it was the Stanford last year that we got blitzed by 30 or whatever I disagree. 100%. To me this was a little like that South Carolina sweet 16 game. We kept it close and chipped. But the refs today were a lot worse today and we didn’t shoot near as well. The media for women’s basketball is bad, and Indiana has had a strong horse to toke up some hype and still don’t it on the media side of it. Wouldn’t be very hard to have a few students in the curriculum try to create an online prescience with articles and things like that maybe it would help with recruiting. mickey one Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Lauren Betts looked like a giant. Reminded me of Kamilla Cardozo from South Carolina last year. How do you handle 6'7", other than with a double-team, and against a decent team, that opens up easy lay-ups. But Betts is everyone's problem in the Big 10 this year. With that said, IU is going to struggle this year. We'll have trouble getting past Minnesota, Michigan State, & Iowa, let alone Maryland, Ohio State, and the West Coast teams. This could be painful. Given that state of pain, it seems to me that CTM would vow, come hell or high water, to recruit the hell out of the portal and next year's prospects to get athletic TALENT in the middle. As a perfectionist, it has to bother CTM greatly to get run over. Her coaching is fine. Do whatever is necessary to RECRUIT. Quote

However, the very best have to want to come to IU. That for a large part is just not happening. Especially, more elite centers and more elite players to surround the post position. Don’t know why? When elite players are offered by IU there is a thank you and IU is dropped fairly early. Sometimes IU makes a top 12 or even top 5 player list of colleges but IU chances % was or is very slim. T. Moren was able to ride some select players trying to keep them healthy to its current state of success. Nothing is showing any change really and things have just gotten much tougher. Very few if hardly any elite players are interested enough to come to IU after being recruited by IU. They choose other schools. There could be a number of reasons but just don’t understand or know why. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 Yeah, we lost by 11 to UCLA at home but the Toiletmakers took a royal beating 83-49 last night at Mackey. They had a whopping 19 points at halftime. Quote
