It's not visible here, but he's actually wearing ear plugs.

He looks like the guy from down the street who just got back from Lowe's and is ready to do some serious yard work.

On a Saturday, no less. He's got the time, and he's gonna get it done TO-DAY.

I still haven’t seen a good angle showing Lyles won the 100m final. I didn’t think he even medaled when it happened live. Insane race that was broadcast terribly.

There was what felt like a minute delay between Diffey calling the Jamaican the winner and then screaming Lyles' name. I think they redid the call and a different version of what we heard live is what is broadcast tonight.

Edit: This is from the int'l feed on Peacock with lines. The broadcast was better too.

Computer imaging and a diff of 1 5000th of a second. That’s crazy. Even the US bronze was literally right there.

after the first 40 of the race L was in last. If he ever fixes his start he’ll beat H Bolt’s time. Would bet on his winning the 200 comfortably— slower start matters less

I agree, but the if is doing some heavy lifting there. If Bolt was a better starter he probably could’ve broken 9.5. I also know zero about sprinting technique, so I’m not sure how possible it is to fix two tenths off a start.

But Bolt’s done, so the if won’t work for him. No idea how possible it is to fix the start technique (I ran cross country not track lol), just believe generally in the idea everyone can improve technique

He'll definitely work on it so it's likely to get better. You can't shave off 0.2 just getting better out of the blocks, but it can get him sub - 9.70. The crazy thing is he was still accelerating at 80m.

The 200 is his best race, would bet on him getting Gold in that as well. Dude is electric, his freewheeling enthusiasm while he burns up the track is fun to watch!

Agreed. I really hope he pulls the double.

And freewheeling is the right word. He was able to stay loose and relaxed down the stretch which is why he won. If you watch everyone else's upper body in the last 30m or so they are tight as can be.

Now 39 year old LeBron is a million times better than 39 year old MJ for sure.
