There are some post players and guards available (1 of each that could have a really good impact) for IU Ladies 2024-25.

I think we’re going to have a really solid portal opportunity for a big this year. Like, one currently on a tourney team that wants to spend their Covid year going for a title. Basically return a ton of shooters and an all B1G point guard elite at feeding the post, and you just need to plug into Mack’s spot and be a mentor for Lilly for a year.

Any idea of IU has reached out to anyone? I’d think the staff could target some specific needs and go after a few players pretty aggressively.

Talia Goodman and 1 or 2 others keeping up to date on players entering but I'm not seeing the flip side as we do on the men's side of what school's are reaching out to these players.   Sydney got some advanced press because she was from Indiana and had held an IU offer but I don't remember seeing much advance info on Sara Scalia or Currie-Jelks until the actual announcement of their commitments.

Interesting fact from Talia Goodman.

Another leading scorer has entered the portal, a source tells @TheNextHoops.  UNC Asheville’s McKinley Brooks-Sumpter has gone portaling. She averaged 14.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 2.8 apg. That makes 39 programs whose leading scorers are in the transfer portal.

Teri is pretty singularly focused right now as you’d expect, but the staff is definitely monitoring the portal. I think they have a plan for the type of player that fits their system and is of need and they’ll keep a list of good fits and let them know we’re interested in talking after we finish our business on the court.

Just curioius: What would Lilly think of this plan?

Not that CTM needs her permission, but ... I only ask because she's been sitting behind Mack for two years, and I wonder if she has it in her mind that she's ready to move into the rotation next season. If you tell her she's gonna spend another year as a bench player -- if she's not happy with that -- she could decide to hit the portal.

It would be excellent.  Lior is an experienced player 41% 3 point shooter.  25 th nationally.   She has been around Villanova and Oklahoma State.  It would just really be a positive for Garzon sisters and IU Ladies basketball program.

Lior has some pretty good accolades herself.

She was 41% in the 2022-23 season.  This past season she dipped to 31% and is 34% for her career.  But she is a volume three point shooter -- 245 out of 718 over four seasons.  Played at Villanova for two years and then at Oklahoma State for two -- was on the Oklahoma State team that lost to Miami 62-61 in the opening round of the NCAA in 2023.

Thanks for clarifying.  She could add depth not as a starter (at least initially) that could have some good impact and increase shooting % in IU Ladies system.
