Valyntyna didn’t to get play but got spot minutes in blowouts and was the only one on the court who could score. She showed up 4 days before the season started and didn’t didn’t get to play. But has the build and a heck of a shot. She might be the best dark horse they have. Sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have. Coming from a foreign country, no time to accumulate to a new language and a new world, without any time to go do it. Think she can be really good and wondered why all season lemondola, bargesseer, got minutes above her. Went to games and seen warmups she was automatic and is a  basketball player

Did she leave the program or something? I agree she always seemed to have a lot of potential, but never saw the court. Could not understand why CTM did not play her more. Or at least challenge her with some major exposure.

Pretty sure she’s still on the team.

CTM saw what she could do in practice, so it's safe to assume that there were better choices for game run.

However, I agree that she looked pretty skilled in the limited minutes she got. Hoping that she's got potential to be a rotation player.

So, a year or two ago IU Ladies were heavily involved recruiting Blakes who went to Vandy……and Zania Socka-Nguemen who followed Dudley to UCLA (Dudley mother coached both I think at some point).  IU Ladies were in top 5 for Socka-Nguemen and after committing to UCLA she was asked a question where she would have went if not UCLA.  Nguemen-Socka stated she wasn’t sure but said probably Indiana or Michigan.
(Some of these players have big ideas about how much they are going to impact their team when making transition from high school to being a freshman (or even sophomore) to college).

Both, Dudley and Socka-Nguemen are in transfer portal.  Not sure about any mutual interest between Nguemen-Socka and Indiana now.

sidenote: Have not heard anything about Williams/Wisky, Christen Carter/Butler, Makalusky/Butler, Ra Shaya Kyle/Florida among others nor any updates on IU Ladies.

She barely speaks English lol

She majors in Game Design. That is like Rocket Science, compared with some of these majors like "Exercise Science" or "Recreation". By this point, she probably knows more English vocab than your average US student!

+ I like her game. She has come in and shown that she can go to the hoop. CTM said she was good on offense. Can't she learn defense? She is a good athlete.

It was stated there was a significant language barrier.

Don't know what to make of this.  This is not from the official IUWBB program but an account that follows the program very closely.  This refers to '24 Zania Socka-Nguemen who had an IU offer but committed to UCLA.  I don't see her name in the On3 list of womens portalers and nothing on her personal X account about portaling so take it FWIW which may be absolutely nothing.

Should have scrolled up further in my X feed.  She has indeed portaled per Talia Goodman,

Can confirm earlier reports that UCLA freshman Zania Socka-Nguemen will be entering the transfer portal, she told @On3sports. The 6-3 freshman averaged 1.5 ppg in 16 games this season.

I remember, but that was the beginning of last year. Some of these Europeans can really pick up English. Don't know if you remember, like Uwe Blab or Matt Haarms (at Purdue). Their English was SO incredibly good.

Anyway, I just like Valentyna's game, and would like to see her get some major minutes. If she screwed up, ok, back to the bench. There were times last year where Cieski looked less than stellar . . . but she was the starter, and that wasn't going to budge. CTM can be stubborn and inflexible. Great when it works . . .. but last year was a bit of an off year, and maybe a time to experiment. Coming year will be even more like that.

I like her game too. I don't agree about the alleged stubbornness and inflexible... games aren't a time to experiment.

One other thing on English: don't know if you remember, but Garzon freshman year was VERY awkward and afraid to speak in English. By this year, she was very confident. Nothing like "immersion learning" for a foreign language!

Regarding Zania Nguemen-Socka and pictures on twitter that are at IU with IU coaches etc are from 2023 visits before committing to UCLA.  After committing to UCLA Zania Nguemen-Socka said runner ups were IU and Michigan….of course things can change.

Indiana transfer Lexus Bargesser and Virginia transfer Edessa Noyan will be taking visits to Purdue this weekend, per source.

I haven’t been this upset since IU RB Sampson James transferred to Purdump.

That didn’t take long..:Ra Shaya Kyle/Florida (Marion HS Indiana) to Miami in Florida.

Wonder how coaches and players feel after spending one, two, and three years together playing each other in games, prep, pre game, during game, and the post game lines….. and as undergraduate alumni/post grad alumni.

It’s getting like pick up games in various parts of neighborhoods.  You may not be on the same team from game to game.
