IU Ladies 2 from the transfer portal thus far.  I guess all other available IU Ladies target lists are classified information.

Great decision by Garzon and Great decision by Maryland.

I don't know about "great". It was their decision to make . . . but not a good day for IU. If she had gone to Iowa State, or Oklahoma, or Florida, that would be one thing . . . . you could even half-way root for her.

It is horrible decision for/regarding T. Moren and IU Ladies basketball program. (based on dedication from  T. Moren, coaches, all of basketball program and others from IU).
I am just referring to Garzon wants/needs matching Maryland/coach and basketball program only.  Has nothing/0 about rooting or not rooting for her.

That didn’t take long.  Avery Howell to Washington.  Excellent pick up for Washington.  Nice considering where she went to high school Boise, Idaho.

Meanwhile much needed good news (actually great news needed) for IU Ladies Basketball program…..Crickets.

I would caution there may be a surprise and IU has a top player in fold they are chasing and we will have no idea about until athletic department press release about the commitment. This happened with Scalia and her name in the release amongst Parrish and Geary (who everyone knew team was going after) was a complete shock and like the ultimate Christmas present under the tree no one had even thought about or knew was there.

Hoping for something similar here but have no insight or idea if this is case.

That is my thought as well.  However, 2 or 3 of those are needed.

Lenee Beaumont is a pretty huge pickup in itself.

You are not wrong. However, "pickup" is relative in this case given she was already on team.

I do think Shay, Lenee, and Stotijn can all start in backcourt and feel good about it. However, still really need a starting level big and another wing to feel good about next year unless one of the two freshman is ready to be like Garzon was and contribute right away. That would fill a fourth spot, but neither is a big which no matter what is a must in portal, particularly in a Moren system.

Faith is not ready yet to be featured big if team is going to be good again. However, love her development trajectory to be a starting level big in the league down the road in a couple of years. Would make a grad transfer starting level center ideal.

There are several 6’3,” 6’4,” even 6’5,” and 6’6” Ladies in the transfer portal.  And several played sparingly.  However, there are probably 3 or 4 who could be impact players and 3 or 4 more who could be solid players and the rest are probably projects of survival that maybe one might be somewhat productive.

Tall players continue getting added to transfer portal…IU Ladies are going to get one or two….For IU Ladies it needs to be good.

Currently, Shay is the best player on IU Ladies roster.  Beaumont is very promising but unproven at the level that she will have to play.  Depending on her recovery process and keeping healthy with no re injury will go a long way towards her success.

Freshman:  though promising….unproven and both, will need to play.

Faith needs to take a step forward whatever that is.

Spreen is a lateral move in back court from 24-25 bench…lack of experience/playing time but she may have untapped scoring and shooting ability and should be able to make fts…though Bama stats show opposite…should be able to be taught defense.

Stotjin has experience maybe needs to play in right system because her stat sheet is not good.  Mystifying.

Fenn still in recovery.  Don’t expect much.

Valentyna another player.

Help Wanted:  High Level players needed.  1 and possibly 2 6’3”+ and taller and 2 scorers at 6’2” and 6’0 or 6’1.”

I know it’s early and will be what it will be but some of the players in the transfer portal committed elsewhere or not sure do seem like they are emotionally connected to their school they happened to play for the previous season/s.

I do not understand some of these statements from people who are transferring: "I would like to thank the coaches and my teammates and the fans for a wonderful experience I will never forget . . . but I decided to continue my journey elsewhere". It's like a script they are following that is available online somewhere (if you were a teacher these days, you would suspect plagiarism, and demand footnotes). It seems there would be some REASON or NOTE OF DISCONTENT, but they rarely, if ever, say it (for instance, "I didn't get enough PT" or "the coach doesn't know what he/she is doing" or "we lost 30 in a row and that was enough").

More candor and honesty would be nice, rather than being left to guess or deduce (sometimes it's obvious; other times it is not). Heck, we are not sure why OUR people are leaving! In a way, I respect the people who make NO statement. Just saying . . .

Whatever their reason for moving, I hope IU can round up a few 6'2" bigs, with a proven record. How about Ashley Sofilkanich from Bucknell. We are recruiting her little sister out of HS. Ashley has a proven record and has been unstoppable, albeit in mid-major territory. Just the kind of player who would not be chasing NIL bucks, and could make a big difference at IU.

I agree with the above assessments.  Players are probably carful trying not to burn bridges and eliminate possible problems by harsh statements.  Maybe, American Greetings or Hallmark Cards could develop a category of cards for transfer portal players.  (maybe a business opportunity).

Yes, I thought Sofilkanich was a possibility when she first entered.

Valyntyna didn’t to get play but got spot minutes in blowouts and was the only one on the court who could score. She showed up 4 days before the season started and didn’t didn’t get to play. But has the build and a heck of a shot. She might be the best dark horse they have. Sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have. Coming from a foreign country, no time to accumulate to a new language and a new world, without any time to go do it. Think she can be really good and wondered why all season lemondola, bargesseer, got minutes above her. Went to games and seen warmups she was automatic and is a  basketball player

Same old same old. Moren doesn't play underclassmen.
