Aaron Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 A name to watch who just enter portal potentially is Notre Dame's Kylee Watson. Syd tweeted at her 'go be great' making me wonder if IU is potentially her choice and already played in state on elite team. "Do Not Contact" for her means she knows where she is going but Syd's tweet makes me wonder if it is IU. She would be starting center likely in Strip's spot coming in with similar numbers around seven points a game as Irish starting big for a couple years before being injured all of last yr. However, her FG percentage is a tick higher and she is bigger and more athletic making you wonder if her finish at rim is better and scoring increases a lot at IU with center being more a vocal point with Moren. Remember she had some combination of Hannah Hidalgo, Olivia Miles, and Sonia Citron who were among the best players in sport around her in lineup. Would probably prefer Merkle but this is an option for a starting center for a couple years on a winning team before being hurt last year as well. Aaron Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 As a follow up, Skim Malkey says on X she already knows where she is going but wont reveal unless subscribed to burner ball. Did see a post saying 'she is known for footwork in post' which sounds Moren esque. However, other than Syd's tweet having nothing connecting her to IU and nothing in comments of tweets about her indicate anything about IU or she is connected to them. Syd and her were teammates at Oregon before transferring to IU and ND respectively so could just be her rooting on a friend. We will see. NatHillIV and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
NatHillIV Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 I'm very happy Spreen is here. I know she's not elite enough for many of you. Right now, for me, it's nice to have a player who clearly WANTS to be a Hoosier and to play basketball for the school 20 miles from her home. She has something to prove to the coaches who gave up on her after offering her a scholarship as a youngster. TTT and mamasa 2 Quote

Sometimes you need PT and comfort to shine. We will see. We know Moren is going to have to add several more. She's trying to win. Lets see what happens. For so long people complained Moren could not get the best players in state of Indiana. She seems to have solved that. Makes me optimistic she can adjust and get more length and athleticism like she says she wants there. mickey one, NatHillIV, TTT and 1 other 4 Quote

Claxdj01 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 And it’s sad isn’t it? Top 5, 10 in the country in attendance, have basically nobody on the roster demanding “big checks” and can’t “afford” a 7.5 ppg game player. The things that make you shake your head. NatHillIV 1 Quote

However, someone avg 8 pts a game is not outside IU’s price range. I’ve watched her. She’s good not great. Definetely not someone who IU could not afford though. She is on same level as Stotijn so if Hoosiers can afford her and get a visit, they can afford Howell. Zero idea if IU interested but this level of player is not a money issue. It would be about fit. They can ‘afford’ this level of player and are already recruiting two of this talent level we know of (Merkle, Stotijn). Poster is blowing smoke. Not sure if IU is interested though. And compared to most of the “powerhouses” Indiana should truly be able to “afford” them all whatever it might be. Reports say they took 5 million and burned it in a bonfire for the men’s to be below .500 in the big ten and not make the tournament. Very little transparency in NIL, one of the many things that needs to be changed. Can get more transparency from the Fab 5, Tarkanians running rebels, and the 87 mustangs. mickey one Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 per Talia Goodman, USC's Avery Howell in the portal. Wow, this is wild stuff. Quote
TTT Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Avery Howell 5’11” is a good looking player and in high school was a 5 star at pretty high 97 per ESPN. She will have many options. She would be really good for IU. She can make shots 3 ball 39.9%and fgs 43.1% and make fts 82.9%. 7.5 points per game on USC team as a freshman is pretty good. Get Phoenix S. as well. Then, IU needs athletic quickness and some size. Quote

TTT Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Question: Do the IU Ladies players in the transfer portal and actually transfer to another team 1. Sign the alumni locker room bulletin board before they leave 2. Come back at a future time after graduation from their colleges and sign bulletin board 3. Or lose that (is it a privilege) privilege. (there would be some beloved IU Lady names missing). Transfers: (Some players spend the last one, two or three years and others spend the first one, two or three years with IU Ladies). (Or discontinue the locker room bulletin board signings)……personally, I like it. NIL and other reasons the transfer portal has made everything so so so different. (not sure how to even say it). Quote
NatHillIV Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Pretty sure Keyanna Warthen, who played 4 years at IU, then transferred to SMU, signed the board. She is now an assistant coach, which seems odd to me. I really liked her as a player, and felt bad when she left after her 4 years at IU. I need to learn that it's the new normal. mamasa 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 4, 2025 Author Posted April 4, 2025 Cleveland State junior forward Jordana Reisma has entered the transfer portal, per source. Reisma averaged 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last year for Cleveland State. mamasa 1 Quote
