Soon to RETIRE Coach Woodson Thread

Because he was serving a 2 year show-cause and sat out part of his first season. He won't be there after this season. McNeese State is 46-9 since Will Wade was hired...they had two winning seasons in the 20 years prior.

Wade would be great, but yeah it's just not gonna happen. Way too many IU fans want to pretend to have a beer with the IU coach than actually have a winning program. What's really bizarre is that what IU fans describe what they seem to want, Tom Crean essentially was, and he was ran out of town.

I'm fully aware of his past transgressions. It's a complete non-starter for me given the circumstances and current nature of the sport.

He's served out his punishment and has earned a second chance.

We all get it. You are his agent. I would suggest talking to Scott Dolson about this rather than advocating for your client on a message board.

I'll just say this.  Any coach who has been accused/guilty of breaking NCAA rules (especially under the table payments) should now get a pass for that transgression -- as there are no longer any NCAA rules.  Other legal and/or women issues, not so much -- don't need the headaches.

Will Wade's teams have finished in the top 25 exactly ONCE.

There is a reason that Chris Beard's transgressions only dropped him a lower power 5 team and Will Wade's dropped him into a low major.  The funny thing that AH thinks the world of Will Wade but guess who didn't come calling for Will Wade when their spots opened up last off-season?  Drake didn't.  St.Louis didn't.  Wade sure as heck isn't going to have his next stop be a high major.

Because I don’t like him and have no interest in being invested in a program he is coaching

Damn straight.

I also have no interest rooting for an IU program led by:

  • Dave Bliss
  • Perry Clark
  • Kim Anderson
  • Todd Bozeman
  • Jerome Allen, or
  • Mike Rice

Other than Bliss and maybe Mike Rice, Will Wade may be known as the most corrupt coach in the entire history of college basketball. And we have people posting that he would be a good choice for IU?!!? Dear lord.

The fact that Dolson identified Fitzgerald as his first target at least gives me some hope. His alleged transgressions are way worse than anything Wade has been guilty of.

I went into TheDailyHoosier and to my surprise, I see this article:

https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-what-are-mike-woodsons-contract-buyout-terms/

It put a giant smile on my face because now these websites that primarily support IU basketball are finally seeing the writing on the wall!!!

So your best candidate is someone coming off a 2 year show-cause?  You take him then because no other major wants him.

Will Wade wasn't eligible to coach right away. A P4 school wasn't going to hire somebody who wasn't eligible to be on the sideline. McNeese St could afford to do that....because it's McNeese State. Will Wade will be coaching at a high major school next year, one that is better than Ole Miss.

You know that for a fact or you're taking the word of "self-important insiders"? LOL

Williams didn't have Crean's peak at Marquette, but aside from that one year his tournament success was better overall than Crean's.

Crean had the FF and never got past the 2nd round, Williams went to the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 two times prior.

Have to remember that Williams team did worse against the Syracuse zone than Crean did

Thank the lord that Scott Dolson and Pam Whitten would not, under any circumstances, EVER consider Will Wade.

His show-cause ended two years ago. He's 46-9 since at a school whose had two winning seasons in the last 20 years.

Kelvin Sampson recruited drug dealers and gangsters while coaching here. That's the biggest reason.

Powerless in todays world.

Will Wade would absolutely kill it at IU in this climate. Thick-skinned, doesn't give a s*** what people think, flat-out winner. But yeah let's hire Brad Brownell because he's a pro's pro whose never won anything. If Brad Brownell was from across the river in Henderson KY instead of Evansville he'd be an after thought.

Will Wade, controversial former LSU basketball coach, hired at ...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I just want to make sure that you know that this guy is Will Wade.

Deadpool Movie (@deadpoolmovie) / X

^^^^^^^^^This guy is Wade Wilson.

I feel like there may be some confusion based on your glorification of your client.

Yeah because that Cuse team was good.

Williams also beat Cuse that year during the regular season.  And lost in the Elite 8.  You would think that Cuse team was trash the way some talk about it.   That Zone was a top 5 defense that year
