Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Not knowing anything, but just reading these posts it sounds like Woodson and his cronies are just using the coaching façade to buy up as much Bloomington as they can

Well, it sure doesn't look like it has anything to do with rebuilding the IU brand in college basketball... just gimme, gimme, gimme.

He owns the entire area of jiffy Treat and that shopping center plus the new crew car wash. Who else has money in it? You guessed it.
And the lot the license branch is located on apparently

I'd really love to know how much nil players at northwestern or iowa get. It would help confirm just how God awful the cooks six million dollar investment in Woodson was.

I highly doubt there was that meeting. You don't go to subordinates to check if they want to fill in temporarily before firing their boss. You fire their boss then see who wants to fill in. Someone will take the position and, since it's only temporary, it doesn't matter who. One of them would see this as a way to jumpstart their career to move from a role as AC to HC.

Right. No way that happened

Ken Bikoff -

#IUBB has now given up at least 52 points in a half four times this year. Louisville (52), Gonzaga (57), Illinois (60), and Northwestern (54). IU has scored 50-plus points in a half just twice against Eastern Illinois (54) and Sam Houston (55).

They should stay with the game plans against NEB and IA and give up over 40 each half.

I am guessing Woodson along with his boys Ferguson and Quinn enjoyed a very nice steak dinner at Gibsons last night. And of course the tab was picked up by IU. Probably had a private room named the kings room.

When Rice referred to Woodson as a grandpa it was a sign of how this season would go.

I cannot fathom that this really happened. There is a ton of stupidity to go around but having a meeting like this or even approaching them in secrecy is a complete bonehead move.

they aren’t important in the big scheme of things and you just don’t do that unless you are 100% moving forward asap

I just ran across these reasons for an AD to make a coaching change even though the team's record is decent or mediocre. I'm just bored during my lunch break! lol

High expectations:
In professional sports, the pressure to win is immense, so even a "decent" record can be seen as unacceptable depending on the team's expectations and fan base.

"Losing the locker room":
If players lose faith in a coach's ability to lead or tactics, it can lead to poor performance and ultimately a firing, even if the record isn't terrible.

Front office pressure:
Athletic Directors often need to make changes to appease fans and stakeholders, and sometimes firing a coach is the easiest way to do that, even if the issue is more complex.

"I wish I knew," Woodson said. "I'm still trying to figure it out."

These are the mind blowing comments that he continues to use to mask his inefficiencies. I would accept this comment from a first year coach and maybe even a 2nd year coach, but not a 4th year coach. Absolutely not!
