The big obvious difference being that our roster without MR is still way more talented than Rutgers, but continue

And outside a few heater runs, IU largely controlled the game and lead comfortably for extended stretches. Your point? IU did what they were supposed to do, why throw in a caveat?

Normally I would agree however with how good the B1G did (minus IU) in the non con and especially how good the sec did they pretty much assured their conference extra teams come March.    There are 3 phases to build a resume. Non con, conference and conference tourney.  Ive seen teams sucks in non con and kill it in conference I’ve also seen teams kill in non con and suck it up in conference.   You make life easier by getting those non con wins however

I know the SEC killed it since Esecpn wouldn’t stop bringing it up but thought the B1G was pretty pedestrian by comparison. Lunardi has 11 B1G teams in right now and if that holds I think we are in good shape, but there’s zero room for error IMO.  We have to take care of business at home. I think Lunardis forecast is probably too bullish,  yet who knows lol.

Are you really just missing the point of concern here or do you just think you're smarter than everybody else? I don't understand how you don't get the hesitation to feel good about the wins against RU and PSU.

You beat RU missing their best player by 10 and only 1 player reaching double digits. You then beat a PSU by 6 who shoots horrendously from 3 and uncharacteristically bad from the FT line.

I don't get what leg you think you have to stand on in this thread on this point. More than a few individuals are sharing this concern and you just want to combat it and hand wave it like we're idiots. Did they win? Sure. However, it's difficult to argue that these wins haven't come due to some very good fortune in their favor, as previously stated. That, in turn, is cause for concern for many going forward, like it or not

Probably best case is he wins alot of games and he retires a hero to his twitter fan club. I did my job then leaves. Anything else and he is likely back.

I like to imagine Dolson tells Woody he needs to see him in his office after the season and Woody responds with “You wanna fire Mike Woodson, you come to Mike Woodson’s office.”

Dolson has no say at all imo. Quinn is his boss period until proven he isn't Not sure what expectations quinn set after getting him the six million but going 10-10 with a six million dollar roster should be easy unless your the worse coach in the league. And I still think making the tourney is good enough for quinn.

Scott got a raise and an extension in May.  He built up football.  He cannot be fired by Quinn, who is also a lame duck.  Scott has a lot of say.

They got an unexpected win.  Allows an unexpected loss.  Net net it’s still a push.

But if you believe Cathy, it’s hire/fire by committee.  Making the tournament changes the narrative for Woodson.  Some administrators will back off and Dolson will lose.  Think of it this way:  Dolson goes into Whiten’s  office saying I want to fire Woodson.  Pam leans back and says “well he just got us to the tournament.  Who is your replacement?”   Without a solid replacement, it’s hard to fire a “ successful” coach.

I don't buy it but that my opinion. We are nebraska football with big crowds are low expectations now. We haven't made an elite 8 in 23 years.

Scott fired Allen, identified Cignetti, and Scott and Pam worked together to close Cignetti.  They work together pretty well and I don’t think it would play out that way — they’re likely in the same page already.

Lol

A team that didn’t shoot well lost a basketball game?!?! Stop me where you’ve heard that before.

Had IU lost to Penn State, you seriously think the excuse that Reneau was hurt would have flown? But only applies as a caveat when an opponent has an injured player? GTFOH. This is what I’m talking about, you have “fans” that would rather see IU lose than Mike Woodson win.

Can’t have your cake and eat it too pal.

Here is your imaginary medal for repeatedly making the same observation. I mean, you could at least learn a new song…

There you go hand waving over the details. Again, FOR THE ONES IN BACK! They didn't just shoot poorly within reason, they shot horrendously bad from 3. They went near 55% from the line.

Had IU lost, MR wouldn't have been on my mind because again, this roster has the talent to make up for it. In fact it probably performed better BECAUSE he wasn't available.

Whose fault is it that Penn State didn’t shoot well? Is IU supposed to apologize and ask the B10 to overturn the result? Imagine beating a solid Penn State team in Philly short handed and then trying to minimize it because Penn State didn’t “shoot well”? That’s freaking basketball dude. Where I’m from, the team that scores the most points and shoots the rock the best typically wins. Try catching on.

I also have never said that I would rather see them lose so I can only imagine where you're pulling that from

IU winning seems to have put you in a mood. Apologies for assuming otherwise.

You can’t have a good faith argument with someone unwilling to cede any truths. It’s a hallmark of Team Shill. People can be happy we won while also critical of how it happened (e.g. building a 16 point lead and pissing it away).

I’ll be the first to admit I cannot give Woody credit he may or may not deserve because I am 100% jaded on his tenure. My standard of what he would have to do to win back not true fans like myself (and I’d bet others) is so high it’s virtually impossible. I’m talking top-3 B1G finish, good showing BTT, and EE at a minimum before I’d go on record as Woody deserves another season (which, LOL). I also don’t want IU to lose any game they play, it’s my Alma Mater I love dearly. There is nuance with this, which is purposefully being ignored when arguing with Team Shill. Both things can be true. Or, put another way, you can have your cake and eat it too, IMHO.

Yeah ok, you don't get it. Not gonna waste anymore time with you. Easier to throw you on ignored list.
