PKs are a crap shoot but sure seems we lose more than our fair share

Disagree they are a crapshoot. You can prepare and improve on them.  Beyond the obvious of just being better at being a shooter it’s incredibly difficult to stay calm in those situation.  So working on staying calm and executing is important.  In my playing days I was good at PKs and basically nothing else which is why I was a goalie

I should say from a keeper’s perspective. People tend to get on the keeper.

I see OT and PK execution as a glaring deficiency that has bitten us time and time again the coaching staff needs to work on. As well as just consistency.  The Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde season put us in a poor seeding position to go up against a team like Notre dame in the elite eight.

These are the things I would like to see improvement on next year

Abolish PKs, give me more OT until winner

Huge heath risk. Had a buddy who had a weird theory that after 2 OT keepers should lose the right to use their hands. To help ensure a goal.  I was never convinced that would be enough

Most definitely, PKs, unfortunately, is the safest bet. Good season, I’m sure we will be discussing again once IU is back in the E8/CC

I think PKs are fine but exhaust options before going there. Golden goal OT, max 30 minutes is great, but every 10 minutes each team takes off one player, having to decide whether it’s attacking or defensive player. It would be down to a more wide open 8 vs 8 by the end of OT if still tied. Then alternating corner kicks, 6 each, 3 from each corner. Play is dead when the ball clears the 18 yard box. If still tied, go to PKs. You’re welcome, everybody.

I like the corner kick idea.

I can dig that, pretty much Soccer’s version of the 2-point conversion
