2024 PG Daquan Davis to Florida State

Recommended Posts

that wasn’t his pitch and it is easy to say he fumbled when you are not in those shoes.

His sales pitch was not that those 2 were the starters. His pitch was the same for all - yes, we have 2 returning seniors, I believe you have an opportunity to come in and compete for those minutes. How much time you get is up to you.

so are you saying he should have said to Love, Dingle, Ellis, Timberlake, Rayj, etc. - spot is yours. No need to worry about X or Trey, if you come here, they are coming off the bench.

Every one of those guys expected to hear that.

Even if you go lower on the ladder talent wise, kind of like Davis here. He still wants to be told he is the starter.

Staffs job to figure it out but fans continue to oversimplify this.

All this excuse making is just that. Staff doesn’t know how to build a top 10-15 team and doesn’t know one when they see one. Bottom line is, our guys aren’t good enough.

Singling out guys that haven’t excelled that we paid attention to isn’t helping your case. What about all the guards that portal-ed that are kicking butt that we didn’t try to get? That’s an US problem. Our staff doesn’t have a system and therefore struggle to identify talent that will excel in whatever it is you call what we do.

Nice thing is, It’s a results based business so you get feedback immediately on if your strategies are working or not. Ours aren’t. Fix something.

I thought Caleb Love couldn’t be admitted to either Michigan or IU

He couldn’t.  He committed Michigan and then had to go somewhere else.   Word was once he couldn’t get in to Michigan he  wasn’t getting into IU.    However that would have been the 2nd  time Love had a chance to go to IU and chose to go elsewhere.  3rd time probably wasn’t going to be any different even if his credits would of transferred

Now that I’m getting to watch him live, I just love this kid. He constantly communicates. He competes his a$$ off. He makes good decision after good decision. It’s his team. He’s a total freakin’ leader. He’s accepting coaching. If you need a PG and you’re not on this kid I just don’t know what you want.

I think the staff needs to win at all costs at this point. Whatever is giving them caution, throw it into the wind and land this kid. The portal is a resource for when things don’t go as planned. My two cents anyways. He certainly has always passed the eye test with me. But what do I know. I’m a roofer.

Not what 'you' want, it's what his people/handlers, etc., want that appears to be the issue.
