JHS needs to develop his skills to an NBA level, as like you said he is minus athlete in the pros.. Idk how much people watch him, but he seems lost in the speed of the game. Injury certainly didnt help. He is still young and hope he can figure it out. But so far he had not been great.

I really don't give two ***** about Bronny nor that they drafted him; it's a feel good story and LeBron's team. But the contract they gave him was not deserved nor normal, basically just giving him $7M. And any playing time he gets is also not deserved, at all. He's been terrible. Obviously they are not going to play him any meaningful games, but it's basically charity to allow him on an NBA roster with a guaranteed contract.

Sure, but I really don't see what Bronny’s contract has to do with JHS…

I'm rooting for JHS, and injuries certainly have robbed him of development time. But right now he is a G league player until he develops shot making/creating. Seems like a great kid, and I hope he works hard on his game. He will always be beloved for his time here,especially torching the Boilers in Mackey. 

That Purdue game made JHS some $$$$$$. Beating the number 1 team (or whatever PU was at the time) on the road and playing a great game, which was very visible nationally, helped his stock.  

That being said, it should have been obvious that he torched PU by being able to easily get to his spots (which would not happen in the NBA) to hit mid-range shots against young, not very athletic, PU guards. That performance was great but not indicative of NBA success.  

Wish him the best, as he has been a visible supporter of IU, but he really needs to develop a shot, overcome his injuries, etc etc to stick in the league. Hope he does so but I won’t be surprised to see him overseas (which isn’t exactly shabby if in one of the top tier leagues).

I have no dog in this fight. But aren't they essentially playing the same position? Like would they be fighting each other for playing time? I don't know because I don't really pay that much attention to this stuff. I just casually watch the NBA. If that's the case one could argue JHS is the better option for the organization as far as his contribution to production value. 

I guess the better question is what was JHS's contract? Did he get the same type of contract? If JHS didn't than it makes a world of difference because many think, myself included, LeBron James' son is not ready for the NBA at all. And honestly, he might never be ready for the Association. I could be wrong and hope that I am because I hate to see failure. But man, that kid has a ton of pressure to even be an average player because of his dad.

A perfect example of the tiny margin of error for players with an array of solid traits but no special ones. If he finds the right org to develop and get established with he can be a 10 year rotational piece the way Thomas Bryant has been able to do and if not he’ll make a very nice living in China.

Since JHS was a first round pick, his salary was set by the rookie scale. His contract was 4 years/$17,882,808, with the first two years guaranteed and team options for the last two years. The Lakers used the second-round pick exception on Bronny, which lets teams sign second rounders to multi-year deals without counting against the cap until July 31 of their rookie season. His contract is 4 years/$7.7 million, with the first two years guaranteed, the third year partially guaranteed, and a team option the fourth year.

Bronny is more of a 2 guard (even though he’s the size of a 1), so I don’t think he’d be competing with JHS for playing time. I don’t think anyone, including LeBron, thinks Bronny is capable of playing NBA rotation minutes at this point, and he won’t. He’ll be down in the G League this season. The 55th pick in the draft is a small price to pay to keep your franchise player happy. We’ve seen something similar with the Bucks having Giannis’s brother on the team for the past 5 seasons. 

Who knows if Bronny develops into an NBA player one day. Time will tell. If he doesn’t, that won’t be much different than most of the other 55th picks in NBA history.

After 2 years Bronny will have made approximately 3.1 million (I also hear that his family has some money).

In 5 games Bronny has played a total of 8 minutes while JHS is at zero. Both will get plenty of G-League time.

The Lakers turned down JHS’s 3rd year which would have only cost them a paltry, by NBA standards, 4 million. I think it will be a tough road for him to catch on with another NBA team but he is young and I wish him the best. We will see.

To your last paragraph, LA not seeing much of a future with JHS is certainly a big part of the equation. He has not impressed. But declining the option also makes him an expiring contract and more likely he is thrown in as salary filler in a trade. I would expect JHS on a different team at the deadline.

JHS left young, but unlike other college players that left very early, when the weakness in your game is quickness and athleticism, it is hard to improve that with a degenerative back condition.
