It took me two minutes into the video to figure out whether he's left or right handed. And he's got a TJD-quick post first step. And on defense I saw him visibly directing traffic and calling out teammates. So wow. Demo, Napleshoosier and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote

The play at 1:47 was the 1st play he made in the 1st TT game I turned on. Yeah, that’s pretty good. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 25, 2023 Author Posted June 25, 2023 Jamie Shaw with his top performers at the DMV Live Session 2. Four-star C Patrick Ngongba (Paul VI/VA). With Kansas State’s full staff and UConn’s Danny Hurley, among others, in the stands, Ngongba played composed, within himself, and tough. He is an excellent area rebounder, and he is starting to show an expanded game with touch and some handle. Six points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block in 13 minutes of game time. NOTE: Although we're not specifically mentioned by Shaw, other accounts I've seen indicate we were watching Ngongba. Quote

Talks IU and mentions the possibility of a visit. So, not quite dead yet. ALASKA HOOSIER and lillurk 2 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I think quite strongly Bidunga and Duke or IU is the primary domino in this one. lillurk and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 Adam Finkelstein on Ngongba. Patrick Ngongba has a tremendous combination of size, length, and offensive skill. He stands just shy of 7-feet with ultra-broad shoulders and a big frame that gives him a significant presence on both ends of the floor. He has soft hands and touch, that now extends out to the three-point line, and an inside-out offensive skill-set. He can provide a true back-to-the-basket scorer in the post, has a high release point around the paint, and the passing ability to punish double teams. He’s showing a growing passing instinct from other spots on the floor as well and can even deliver balls with both hands at this point. His developing ability to make spot-up threes only adds to his repertoire. Overall, Ngongba is an exceptionally efficient offensive player (70% FG in the EYBL regular season), but one who is showing more signs of being able to anchor a half-court offense down the road. Durability and mobility are the key variables for him moving forward. He missed time with injuries early in his high school career and was not an especially fluid mover when he returned. While he’s made great strides since, he still projects as a drop coverage big man at the next level without much defensive versatility. His physical presence in the lane gives him some value as a rim protector (1.3 blocks per game), although he still often has to shuffle his feet before elevating, while his length and hands allow him to own his area on the glass (7.8 rebounds in 19.3 minutes). Finally, Ngongba has shown a rapid rate of improvement since getting healthy, which could be a key variable to projecting his long-term upside. ALASKA HOOSIER, J34 and Demo 3 Quote

Hurts when we lose a highly prized target, but when we're getting included with the likes of Duke, pUKe, Kansas, etc., we know recruits and their handlers are starting to pay attention to IU basketball.
