We got seats this year after being on the wait list for 1 year (had the opportunity last year but missed the window). No priority points built up and landed on the main level (albeit 1 row from the top). I like your odds, hope you snag some good ones!

One year? Wow. I didn’t think it’d be a crazy long time, but one year is awesome.

I got season tickets last year after being on the waitlist for one year too. I hadn’t built up any priority points at the time. This year, I had about 90 points and was in the 90th percentile for point total, so I got the exact same seats as last year. But, I also bought football season tickets, which will add an additional 125 points starting next year. That would have put me in the 70th percentile. So I suspect next year I’ll have closer seats, but who knows. Seems like it takes a lot of time, or donation money, to really move up. This year, for example, I donated 500 bucks, and that was only worth 50 points. So, football tickets give a big boost, but it’s too bad they didn’t apply to this years total!

IMG_0901.pngFYI if you have a student in your house.

I got it for 3.99 this first year.     Xfinity offered it for free until about 3 months ago then they said they would offer it for 3.99 for members for the first year.  I saw this coming once they got the tv deal.   Smart business move spreading out the games on peacock so people can’t subscribe and then cancel.    Whatever if I didn’t already have it I would have definitely got it to watch the college basketball games that will be playing on it.     We should get Mike Turico back calling games and Hummel should be their top analyst moving forward

The $5.99 a month for three months does not bother me.

What does bother me and I don't think the Big Ten thought through is with recruiting. I can see it now where coaches in Big 12, SEC, and Big East start negatively recruiting against Big Ten by saying "100% of our games are on regular TV while (insert Big Ten school athlete being recruited by) has a half dozen games on streaming only including big rivalry contests. There fore their product is inferior and they don't take sports as seriously".

Obviously eventually, every conference will be like this and that pitch will go away. However, for now just like with BTN with minimal distribution for first couple years, this will absolutely be used against conference when recruiting. The Big Ten taking the plunge first always makes it richest with TV contracts but at first can be used negatively against it until others follow suite.

At least unlike with BTN in mid 2000's. the games on Peacock can actually be watched by anyone who chooses to pay. With BTN, some people could not subscribe to DirecTV for any number of reasons and literally could not watch for first 18 months.

You can still subscribe for just the 6 months of football and basketball at $6 a month and then cancel. That is $36 a year which is still less than the $60 for a year. In IU's case you can literally subscribe for just Dec., Jan., and Feb. for Men's and Women's Bball given state of football at Indiana for on $18. Just like everything else you can order month to month and cancel anytime.

Also, for everyone who thought cord cutting would save money think again. With all the streaming services now, Internet + online cable+ streaming is almost $200 which was price of traditional cable.

No surprise that media conglomerates have figured out a way to one-up the consumer trying to save money. Reality is corporate America will always find way to make their $$$ no matter how much people try to save. Not a bad thing per se but the truth of capitalistic economy.

Big Ten is already negatively recruited against. There is a reason the talent goes to the ACC and SEC.

Big 12 had a deal last year where a lot of there games were only on ESPN+.    I remember a lot of people upset because Big 12 was stacked last year and unless you had + you missed out  on a lot of really good college basketball games.

Seems like they practically give Peacock away around Black Friday, which just happens to be perfect timing for hoops fans to grab it. Keep an eye on that if you don't already have it.

It isn't my favorite streaming service, but it's been solid so far. Their B1G CFB production is probably my favorite thing going right now, so I have high hopes for their basketball stuff.

"Uhh...wut's regular TV?"

- 17 year old kid who watches everything on his phone and has never lived in the era of "regular TV"

I get what you're saying. But I'm gonna guess that to a recruit these days, a team's social media strategy will far outweigh 6 games their grandma can't figure out how to watch.

Comparing us to Iowa ..

Iowa will have 18 games on BTN compared to our 12.

They'll have 4 on BTN+ compared to our 3.

They'll have to on Peacock compared to our 5..

They are 100000% using Indiana and I am sure Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Ohio State as ways to get subs. They don't care about Iowas and NWs.

For everyone who thought BTN+ was going away I knew there was no chance, Now we just need Peacock and BTN+ for games.

At least Peacock will get money's worth for 4 months and $24 but this was price of getting this really high $$$ TV deal and excluding ESPN and adding NBC instead. NBC not having any sports channel outside their regular network like FS1, BTN or multiple ABC/ESPN channels makes streaming necessary for many games.

Most definitely agree. IU not really appearing on Peacock for football is because it will not move needle for subscriptions. Only the teams that will drive subscriptions get a lot of Peacock games of course.

But you don't have to subscribe to all the services at the same time, or for a whole year at a time. It is, without a doubt, cheaper than cable.
