I will just add the Wisky plays a style that makes almost every game they play no matter the talent level a close game.    They have played over 16 games that were 5 points or less.     My guess is if you went to a Michigan board their fans are pulling their hair out because almost every loss of theirs was 1 or 2 possessions.  Michigan is a classic example of a tournament quality team that just doesn’t have enough wins to make it at an at-large right now.  If they do get in they  will be dangerous just like they were last year.   They were an 11 seed last year and made the sweet 16.

By most objective measures that beating we put on Wisconsin is better than squeaking by Michigan.   
 

(otoh, Wisconsin fits my matchup theory that we definitely want to play good defensive teams that can’t score. They are like the mirror opposite of Iowa…. Coincidently whom Wisconsin swept this year).

We don't have the wing defenders or scheme to lock down a team that gets hot from deep or athletic enough that can drive or cut.

Only two different leading scorers (TJD, JHS) in the final 18 Big 1.o games for IU. Three different assist leaders (TJD, JHS, Gallo)

Surely they’ll hope so. Their concern is they’re likely to lose Jett and Bufkin to the draft and already lack depth.

Yeah, certainly can matter who stays and goes, but i’m not sure they’d be better if Jett were to return

Agreed, he’s in a similar boat to Caleb Houstan last year: 1-and-done who didn’t meet expectations. If the best thing about frosh is they become sophs, it can be a bummer when they’re gone by then. Sometimes, as with JHS, it’s worth it because they actually help you win

An interesting theory, but it’s not really backed up by much statistically that I can see. Michigan is 6-4 in Feb (including a loss to Wisconsin). 6-4 is pretty close to their overall record. 
 

On that same note, Wisconsin was much better earlier in the year when we played them. I don’t have a Kenpom subscription so maybe someone can look it up, but I’d bet that Wisconsin’s efficiency rating on the day we played then was effectively equal to our better Michigan’s prior to Sunday’s game.    
 

We are finding ways to win which I’m happy about. But it is undeniable that we’ve slipped in efficiency ratings this last six game stretch of .500 ball. That’s even after calculating for the ridiculously hard SoS of that run.  There’s a reason for that.

Howard, who is dealing with an ankle injury, has struggled on the defensive end of the floor. This may be why Michigan has generally performed better when he sits relative to when he plays.

He's definitely ball dominant. Strong offensive player for sure, but yeah I think UM could be better off next season without him.
