There is plenty of blame to go around for performances like this. It was definitely there before Woody arrived and you could attribute it to different things/people. There is always a balance between being too strict and too lenient. It's much easier to start stricter and loosen the reins than to tighten the screws later.

I've been vocal about the [lack of] leadership for this team and program for a hot minute. I don't think Woody is ignorant to this but you're limited in what you can say publicly. It's nice of him to call out the leadership when he's shown it a few times throughout the season or what they're calling leadership.

Would it be different if JHS was the leader? Possibly, young men in that 17-24ish range are a bit erratic in how they handle those issues. I thought XJ had the most leadership potential in this group.

Woodson doesn’t have good assistant coaches on the bench. That’s a problem. He needs to upgrade that. Hunter and particularly Rosemond…leave a lot to be desired.

Completely different roles.  IU needs shooters, which is something Perkins isn't.  Iowa doesn't need more shooters but does need slashers like Perkins.

Nothing like a bad loss to have fans turn on their own.

Lol. Give 7 a game over 12 a game that’s smart just admit you didn’t know he was scoring at that clip…..

Leal? Is this his last go around?

He loves IU, is cashing NIL checks, getting a real estate business going, soaking up being an IU player vs transferring to possibly get playing time, in front of 1,000 fans, at a low mid-major.
I’m guessing he stays and Woody won’t boot him.

Ever 4/13 matchup last year was under 10 pts.   2 of them 4 pts and Illinois should of lost to Chattanooga but they ended up winning by 1

3-14 had 1 close game and that was Wisky (shocker)

5/12 went 2-2

6-11 went 3-1 for the 11 seed.

with middle of the pack Power 6 teams taking up most the 11 and 12 seeds it makes for an exciting first round

Well sure, anything can happen. That’s a given. But even by your own numbers 4/5 seeds went .750.  Matchup-wise smaller schools on that 13 line aren’t the type of team to really give us trouble and neither are midpack (or lower) P5 schools barring a really bad draw.

I like our chances to get out of the first round as much as anyone that will land on those 4/5 lines.

Jesus.  Board full of Debbie Downers.  Sometimes you're the Pigeon.  Tonight we were the Statue.

It happens and yes probably happens too much with this team.  Better now, than during tourney time.  Hopefully they figure it out.

As for next year, lets leave it to next year.  Who the hell knows what's going to happen.

Kid can still develop into a role player.  Some of these four year guys kinda got jobbed with the covid year and guys staying around until they're eligible for social security.

He’s way to slow to play at this level but seems perfectly happy on the bench

Exactly. People don’t understand sound logic. If we’d have had Perkins instead of Gallo we’d have only lost by 17 instead of 22.

For anyone posting 'eureka' moments......

we are exactly the same team after the game as we were before.  If you are basing too much one game, you are reading too much into it.  Just like you should have enjoyed the win at Purdue for the sake of winning at Purdue, you should be upset at losing by 22 to Iowa for the sake of losing by 22 at Iowa.  But if you are trying to project anything forward to the NCAA tournament or....incredibly....next season already, you might as well be tilting at windmills.

Perkins had 23 tonight… I see math is your strong suit either

Double LOL.  Obviously it's all about how much you score, right?  Maybe we should trade TJD for Antoine Davis.

So, let me get this straight…we get Kris Murray on a blocking call at what could have been a HUGE turning point in the game, and Coach Mike decides it’s a good time to get a technical?!?! YOU GOTTA BE SHITING ME
