What does this mean and how many teams do bracketologist keep on their board this late?

Opposite IU, they've gone through their tough Big 1.o stretch and have an easier upcoming schedule. However, they'd have to go on an actual winning streak to find their way to even being able to see .500 in conference. That struggle at Nebrasketball did them no favors.

Bracketologist project out to teams under consideration they probably extend to 15-20 past the cut line.    Not sure their updated list but most I saw last week still had Minny on that list.  Doesn’t mean they are near the cut line just on the list of resumes  to keep on eye on since they have some quality wins.   Teams like Dayton, St Louis, Virginia and I would guess Rutgers are teams that would fall into the same category.

Definitely not a bracketologist, I would imagine after a few more losses, including a double digit one to the mighty Nebrasketball, finally put them out of their misery. It's odd they have 0 quad 2 games on their schedule so far. I guess they do meet the qualification of having 4+ wins away from home, but lacking conference and overall wins. They'll need to put together a truly magical run to get on the bubble with their (2-10) conference record and their, almost as low (or high) as IU, noncon SOS. Again, I'm not a bracketologist, but I think it's safe to give them the sharpie.

Yeah  not going to make the tourney as an at-large  but the fact that they were still in consideration this late with the conference record tells you they had a good non conference season.   Just shows you how tough of conference the B1G really is if one of their worst teams was even being discussed.  Not sure how many other conferences dwellers can say that    Brutal schedule having 11 Q1 games already.

11 quad 1 games already is up there but not sure it's completely abnormal. There are quite a few teams with 10+ quad 1 games AND some quad 2 games.

Villanova, Baylor, Kansas, purdoodoo, Tennessee, Illinois, Texas Tech, Wiscy, Xavier, Alabama, Marquette, Iowa State, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Oklahomas State, Kansas State, Penn State, Stanford, and Minny.

Looks like teams from the Big 1.o, Big East, Big 12, and SEC make up most of that list of about 20% of the top 100 NET teams.

Once Minny hit the Big 1.o schedule they went into the IU 12/13 loss tail spin territory (they're only sitting at losing 9/10 though) and most of those weren't really that close.

Sounds like a brutal schedule for all the teams you named

Still legit curious about this. Any of the older crowd have good/funny stories?

Older than what?

I lived in a fraternity on 3rd St for a couple years in the mid 90's.  Jason Collier (rest in peace big man) would park his car in our lot at times and I had to kick him out.  This 7 foot man was driving a beat up Geo Metro.

If he received extra benefits he hid them real well.

Brutal? I guess that would depend on perspective. If you're an established program winning those games you're probably excited for the opportunities to improve your seeding. If you're a losing program or a paper tiger (Minny) I'd imagine it's a brutal schedule.

You do have to give Minny credit for staying clean in the noncon against the 310th SOS. That's a pretty big accomplishment for a first year head coach.

See, this is legit funny. 7 footer driving a Geo Metro and Josh kicking him out.

Older - during the Knight era. We love to talk about running a clean program and how we shouldn't be like almost every other major conference program that plays in the gray area to some degree. We reference Knight doing it the right way and how he would never play in that area. I've heard stories, and they could be just that, about relatives landing jobs at some major companies in Bloomington to get a recruit for the basketball team. To me, that would be playing in the gray area. Was it a rule at the time? I have no idea, probably not. Was it the clean as a whistle program that was projected? No, it was a creative way to stack the deck in your favor.

How much does Ken Nunn love Indiana basketball?

Definitely a big accomplishment for a first year coach that was suppose to be bottom dwellers and ended winning on the road at Mississippi St who is in the tournament discussion and winning a couple more games away from home.   Big time props to them

And a road win against a middle pack Big 1.o team in year 1 with a completely revamped roster!! That's two road wins against teams hoping to be in contention for the bubble. Hopefully, they don't start landing those 4* recruits they could be trouble for us in the Big 1.o. Mississippi St. will need to snag a few more road games to hit that 4 wins away from home mark. They'll have some chances against lower SEC teams coming up.

Hopefully they do land 4 stars.   Make the B1G as hard as possible.   If IU fans want IU back to where they want they shouldn’t be worrying about a team with 4 stars giving them trouble.    Yeah the bulldogs have 2 wins away from home they are going to have get to more on the road or in the sec tournament

How do we compete with this? We can't expect wins over PSU and Northwestern anymore. If Minny starts getting 4* recruits that'll leave only Nebrasketball as a Big 1.o team we can hope to expect wins against, although they've even gotten a few wins over us recently.

Lol.    I guess they just play the games and see what happens.   Let the worrying to the fans on free message boards to wonder how the team will compete with the rest of the league

Went to a game mega-early once and C-Wat rolled up beside us in a Ford Ranger Pickup (and it wasn't decked out).

Because the only guarantee is that our league as a whole will finish at exactly .500.

If we win enough conference games, it won't matter one bit which conference opponent has improved or regressed. And if B1G teams win a ton of out of conference games, finishing above .500 in the B1G will make us a guaranteed success. Especially if the out of conference B1G wins are against teams from the PAC 12, the Big 12, the SEC, the ACC, and the Big East.

Can we bring on an offensive coordinator? This basketball has become Archie Miller level hard to watch. Crean might be available, plus he can recruit. He even landed Dwayne Wade. emoji23.pngemoji23.png

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

I think I saw somewhere that the offensive efficiency during conference is worse then last years
