Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Back on the court after an 8-day layoff to host the Huskerettes. It's Student Appreciation Night as well as Junior Hoosier Hoosier Club Day so hopefully there will be a good sized crowd. Huskers (13-2) (2-2) have wins over Michigan (home) and Minnesota (road) and losses to Michigan State (road) and Iowa (home). Live Stats Radio HoosierAloha and Banksyrules 2 Quote
Todd41 Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I watched them play Iowa the other day. They like to play uptempo and go deep into their bench. The also love to jack up threes. Banksyrules 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Ouch! Mackenzie will not play tonight; out with a knee injury. No details beyond that. Todd41 and mamasa 1 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Kiandra and Chloe are going to have to step up big time and possible some other girls that have seen very limited minutes. Can't afford anyone to get into foul trouble. mamasa 1 Quote

I assume its day-to-day, but I would say this changes IU from a slight favorite to a slight underdog tonight. Very much the equivalent of Trayce missing a game on men's side. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Evan Gerike - IU comes out of the tunnel with nine players dressed. The big story, obviously, is Mackenzie Holmes, who is heavily favoring her left leg. IU sent out a release that she's missing tonight's game with a knee injury. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Pre-game radio show provided no elaboration on Mackenzie's injury. Learned that Grace Waggoner is also not available for tonight's game. Quote
LIHoosier Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Good Lord, a 10 minute quarter took 11 minutes in real time to play. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Cardano-Hillary took a hard fall after making a layup and came up holding her head. Then she was pushed to the floor at the other end of the floor (no call) and looked like she may have hit her head a second time. After 1, Hoosiers lead 22-16. Cardano-Hillary 9p / Gulbe 7p Berger 6p Nebraska dominating the backboard (11-7) and already have 4 offensive boards. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Hoosiers 31-27 with 4:55 left in the 2nd Q. Cardano-Hillary and Gulbe both in double figures. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Hoosiers leading 44-31 at the half and have played very well without Holmes production. Cardano-Hillary 13p / 5r / 2s Gulbe 12p / 2r Berger 12p / 3r / 2a Patberg 7p / 3a Moore-McNeil hasn't scored but does have 4 rebounds. Quote
TheWatShot Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Not sure why the official thought that was off IU. The Nebraska player actually hit it twice before it went out. Thankfully it didn't matter. Quote
johnsoniu Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Outstanding team effort that half. Gonna be some tired young ladies tonight.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ellen.walden, Class of '66 Old Fart and mamasa 3 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Would be a big NET win for IU. Nebraska is 11 in the NET. IU is 12th. mamasa 1 Quote
Aaron Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Team had to hit jump shots without Holmes and they are so far. I worry this pace is to fast for their liking and may wear out given lack of depth, but doing all they can with hand they have been dealt. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 14, 2022 Author Posted January 14, 2022 5:08 left in the 3rd and we lead 52-38. Cardano-Hillary with 3 fouls. Gulbe has really stepped up tonight and now has 17p 2r 1a 3s 2b Cardano-Hillary and Berger each with 13 p HoosierAloha 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 The same ref who blew that out of bounds call to end the half is now trying to say the Nebraska player was in the act of shooting when she wasn't even looking at the basket and the ball was below her waist. Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Hearing Holmes might miss 1-2 games, but it isn't structural damage that would cost her the season. thebigweave 1 Quote

If the men's games ever go to quarters, we'd no longer see the issue of the 7 p.m. game not ending until 9:15 while the 9 p.m. game either starts late or is joined in progress. But advertisers need their commercials that come with all the excessive media timeouts, so it probably won't happen. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 14, 2022 Author Posted January 14, 2022 Hoosiers start the 4th Q leading 57-43 and hopefully we have enough gas left in the tank to finish this off. Gulbe and Berger both with 17 p Gulbe and Cardano-Hillary both with 3 fouls. Quote
