Thanks for the link. It is just unreal that the games are not on one or another network TV. So much for all the talk over the years about how soccer has gained so much in popularity if they can't land some kind of deal. And yes, I know the finals are telecast, but still......disappointing.

Soccer has gained in popularity.  But the best players start playing professionally before going to college.

Here is the thing. Many people don't have cable anymore (and especially ESPNU which is a premium channel on some systems). A free stream is often more widely available to fans than ESPNU telecast.

Just use an HDMI cord to hook up to your TV and you are watching on a screen for free which for many people is a lot better since they don't subscribe to cable.

Paid and free streams are the thing of the future to watch sports. Something like MLB Extra Innings that you buy online for season (without local blackout anymore once this change occurs) is how we will be consuming sports in the not to distant future.

Believe me, I hear you about cable. I haven't had an actual cable subscription for years. Have gone back and forth with Sling or Philo or whatever, but so many of the cable channels have just turned to absolute crap programming.

For non-sports I take advantage of specials like when Hulu made their base plan available for $1.99 per month for a year, and also the freebees like Pluto and such.

Jeremy Price -

Two NCAA soccer quarterfinal matches taking place this afternoon. Pitt has put away Washington with an empty-net goal with two minutes left, then another caught the goalie too far off the line a minute later to win 3-0.  Panthers await the #iums-Seton Hall winner in the semis.

In the other match, Marshall has followed up its PK shootout upset of No. 1 Clemson with a 1-0 win over Georgetown.
