ABOUT THE BOILERMAKERS
Purdue is 2-9 since it last played Indiana as it will search for back-to-back wins after knocking off Illinois, 70-66, on Sunday. They are led by junior guard Kayana Traylor who averages 14.7 points and 3.8 assists per game. Junior guard Brooke Moore also adds double figure averages with 12.0 points per game. The Boilers are averaging 66.3 points per game and shooting 41.5 percent from the floor.

NOTES

Indiana is on its longest win streak in the Barn Burner Trophy game series, which dates back to the 1993-94 season. It has won four-straight in the rivalry game dating back to 2017. In the series overall, it has won seven of the last eight games against the Boilermakers.

IU is coming off an 89-80 win over Iowa at home on Wednesday night. It marked the first series sweep of the Hawkeyes since the 1993-94 season. A trio of players led the way with 22 points each in sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes, junior guard Grace Berger and senior guard Ali Patberg. Holmes also notched her sixth double-double of the season in the win.

The win on Wednesday pushed IU to its eighth-straight win this season, its longest win streak since it won the first 10 games of the 2018-19 season.

The Hoosiers have a chance to make history as the program could set the records for most conferences wins in a season. Currently, they are tied at 15 wins with the 1982-83 team.

Lead is 48-44 a little over midway through the 3rd.  Holmes has 9 pts. in the quarter.  PUke having another good shooting quarter 6-8 FG.

Even women's teams shoot better in Assembly Hall.

Had to work harder than expected but the women get the Barn Burner Trophy with a 74-59 victory.  We outscored PU 21-8 in the quarter.  Over 4 min. scoring drought by PUke and a 10-0 IU run provided the separation we needed.

Points:  Holmes 26; Gulbe 14; C-H 11; Berger 10; Patberg 8                        Holmes scored 22 in the 2nd half.

Reb:  Holmes 9; C-H 7; Berger 6; Patberg 4; Gulbe 4

Assists:  C-H 6; Holmes 4; Berger 4

Shooting:  IU - 49% FG / 31% 3s / 59% FT                 PU - 39% FG / 18% 3s / 88% FT

That had shades of the Illinois game but ultimately put it away in last half of fourth quarter.

Not our best game by any means, but given the competition ramps up from here forward (with the first NCAA Tourney game the exception), this was the game to be less than stellar and still win. Onto the Big Ten Tourney and postseason.

End of the Sharon Versyp Era at PU?

Beginning of the Stephanie White Era?

White hasn't exactly set the world on fire at Vandy and while she'd probably be the crowd pick on name alone, PU might want to break the "need a PU coach" mindset.

2016-17           14-16

2017-18             7-24

2018-19            7-23

2019-20           14-16

2020-21             4-4   they suspended the season blaming COVID after they were already 0-3 in SEC play.

Giving her the benefit, she wasn't doing much with her own recruits.

Stephanie White has yet to achieve a winning record at Vanderbilt in 4 seasons there, and has never finished higher than 11th in the SEC. That would probably be a step down from Versyp.

Maybe Purdue pays the $10M buyout we have for Moren. We could use $10 mil right about now!
