Game Thread: Indiana vs Michigan State (8PM EST BTN)

I could be mistaken, but Hunter's foul trouble was in large part from trying to guard Henry. One of those fouls was from that awful reach on a post entry, but I was thinking most of his other fouls was his inability to keep Henry in front of him and falling for pump fakes and getting in the air or not going straight up on Henry. Galloway was at least putting a chest into Henry making things difficult for him, but I'll totally agree with your take that Galloway is not a threat on offense and shouldn't be in a position to take screens looking to shoot.

Hunter had some dumb fouls. In the post. Henry didn’t attack him off the dribble the way he did Trey. He went at Galloway and Leal immediately off the dribble, muscled them back to the basket like he’d strapped them to a dolly. I’m not trying to downplay Trey’s effort, don’t get me wrong here, there isn’t a soul on the roster that was going to handle it alone. Hunters foul trouble was big though in this particular respect. I imagine if you asked a coach, he/she would agree. Sounds like some of the popular post-game podcasts do as well. It’s easy really, he’s just plain bigger.

Let me say this to ya though Kreigh, I’d lay heavy money that a Junior Trey Galloway stops Aaron Henry dead cold. Henry is a Junior if I’m not mistaken.

I hope we're still not dealing with Aaron Henry by the time Trey is a junior : ). That gives me nightmares just thinking about, but I get your point. I'm higher on Trey than most. He does the little things, or at least was, the ball doesn't stick to him on offense, and in a pinch can handle the ball as he's shown from his time at CMA. If he can just develop a consistent shot he'd be such a better player and will need to develop one if he wants to survive in the Big10.

Might have been busy figuring more ways to run Galloway off of multiple baseline screens, looking for a shot. No....not Al, not Rob, not Jerome, not Tony, but Trey Galloway. “Bold Strategy, Cotton.”

Hunter’s foul trouble was unfortunate in respect to Henry. He didn’t seem to attack Jerome the way he did Leal, Galloway and Lander. His length and athleticism at the very least, didn’t have Henry licking his chops when he saw who was covering him.

Pretty sure Galloway was the recipient of TJD’s f-bomb too. Eventful night for the young fella!

Really? I thought Stuhoo wound back the tape and said it was a coach who was on the receiving end. Would really love to know but I suspect it will go unanswered. Archie was asked about it in the post game and said he didn't recall that happening, so either he wasn't the recipient or was shielding TJD from further criticism.

Trey Galloway can't shoot and he is too slow to guard most players at his position. Unless he has a clear lane to the basket he is a liability on offense. I'd rather have Geronimo, Leal or Lander out there than Galloway.

You'd rather have those 3 out there guarding Henry? Geronimo might have stood a chance, but those other two would get bodied by Henry and it wouldn't be pretty.

I disagree about Trey being too slow.  I like Leal a lot.  Problem is he can’t guard anyone on the perimeter.  He has defended well in the post for his size but can’t defend at all right now outside the paint.

Unless you heard something, I reviewed the game segment and that's not what I saw. I saw TJD look forward at eye level and scream at someone. Galloway was in that direction, but was underneath and looked up at TJD, I think to calm him down.

But it's impossible to be sure from the tape.

I also thought Trey was one of the ones to console TJD when he was in tears after the outburst. Wasn't long as TJD was inserted back in the game but I thought he was over picking up his spirits. If Trey were just told "F You" it doesn't make sense he'd be over there immediately.

Nope. Trey was on the court. Joey, Leal, Rob, and Armaan were calming him down.

I agree. I like his game I.Q. ...A LOT. The shot needs to be there for sure but I think it’s something he can develop in the off season. He’s not ever been a shooter. Not even in H.S. He wasn’t this bad though. He really just needs it to be good enough to be a guardable threat, so that he can use his real talent more effectively, which is getting downhill with the dribble. Right now he’s finding it difficult to get the corner on defenders that are giving him a 7’ cushion.
He also came in as a freshman as an A-/B+ defender. His motor and his ability to defend are keeping him on the floor. The guy above isn’t high on Trey, I get it. That’s because he can’t imagine a Junior/Senior Galloway with a 35% 3 ball. I can.

That's my bad then. I saw the dark hair and conflated Leal and Galloway, just had the wrong length of hair.

It wasn’t. He went through Anthony like he wasn’t even there. That’s not speculation. That happened live and in color.

I keep coming back to the Durham 3 in the waining moments. That was such a big moment. It was the game. The Durham whiff, the resulting wide open 3 look for Brown on the other end, and then coughing it up on the very next possession. Didn’t matter what Henry did after that. That was such a big shot, and he didn’t get within feet. A senior needs to hit that. That was so disappointing to me.

Pretty much had the same thought. And it was on a kick-out from TJD, who had been taking some really bad shots. He makes the smart move and rather than force something, he punches it out to a wide-open Al -- and the rest was (sadly) history  ... I just don't understand how you can airball a 3-pointer when you're wide open. Especially a senior.
