Indiana University is in its 121st season of competition in men's basketball and opens the doors of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for the 50th season. The Hoosiers play its 12th and final home game of the season Saturday when they host #3 Michigan. Saturday would normally have featured Senior Day post-game speeches, but this year those speeches will be recorded and distributed later and the 3 seniors and 6 managers will be honored virtually.

THE COACHES

Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his fourth season of guiding the Cream and Crimson and is 67-54 with the Hoosiers and earned career win 200 against Penn State. He is 206-117 in 9+ years as a head coach, which includes 6 years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. Michigan is guided by Juwan Howard who is 36-13 in 2 seasons in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines defeated No. 9 Iowa on Thursday, 79-57.

 

JACKSON-DAVIS LOOKING FOR POST SEASON HONORS

Sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis ranks among B1G leaders in scoring, rebounds, field goal percentage and blocked shots. He had his 22nd career double-double after posting a 21-point, 11 rebound effort at Rutgers. He had a career-high 34 points and added 9 boards in the last week against Michigan State. He has twice been named Big Ten Player of the Week. His most dominant performance this season was a 25-point, 17-rebound effort at Florida State. He is one of five finalists for the Karl Malone Award given annually to the top power forward in the nation and was named to the Wooden and Naismith Award Mid-Season Watch Lists. He is averaging 20.3 points, 9.5 rebounds while shooting 53.2% from the floor and a team-high 32 blocks this season. He is the only Hoosier in the last 25 years to have 3 games of 25 points and 15 rebounds (at Minnesota, at Florida State, Nebraska). He is 3rd in the nation in FTs made (132) and 1st in FT attempts (198). Both lead the Big Ten. He and Illinois' Ayo Dosunmu are the only players in the league to score in double figures every game this season.

 

ODDS AND TRENDS

IU has played a national-high 5 overtime games this season (2-3), the most since they played 6 in 1998-99. IU has won 3 Big Ten road games this season after winning just 2 a year ago. Jackson-Davis is averaging 20.3 points and 9.5 rebounds overall and 19.9 points and 9.9 boards in league play. the last Hoosier to average 20 points was Eric Gordon in 2008 at 20.9. The last IU player to average 10 rebounds or more was D.J. White also is 2008 at 10.3. The last Hoosier to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in a season was Steve Downing who contributed 20.1 points and 10.6 boards in 1973. George McGinnis was the last IU player to average 20/10 in Big Ten play (29.9/14.4).Senior Aljami Durham needs 6 points to become the 53rd player in IU history to score 1,000 points or more in his career with the Hoosiers. IU held the nation's second best offense, Iowa, (87.8) to 69 and 65 points in their two meetings.

If Armaan is not playing I hope Archie does not start Galloway. He seems to only perform well against teams. He gets killed playing against quicker and/or bigger players. Start Geronimo or Jerome Hunter at the 3.
