Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 At least we can watch the first half of the women's game before the men's game starts at 8:00. #20 IUWBB (5-2) (3-0) on the road against perennially tough #14 Maryland (6-1) (2-0) as our women have never beaten Maryland since it joined the B1G losing 10 straight. Five players average double figures as the Terps are one of the country's leaders in points per game with an average of 97.3 points per outing. Led by sophomore guard Ashley Owusu's 18.4 points and 4.1 assists per game. Sophomore forward Diamond Miller adds 17.9 points per game while senior Chloe Bibby leads on the glass with 8.1 per game. Can our defense contain their offense? Lastly, we need a volunteer to wake @mamasa for the start of this game since he slept through the first half of the Illinois game. LockdownD Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I’d really like to see the girls attack that press. Takes too long to get into our offense. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Give the ladies some credit. They made a run in the 2nd Q but couldn't keep their momentum and still trail by 12 at the half 41-29. Scoring: Berger 10, Gulbe 6; Holmes and Cardaño-Hillary each with 4. Rebounding: Holmes 7, Gulbe and Penn each with 3. Patberg has 3 assists. Maryland shooting 59% FG and 55% on 3s. Hoosiers just 39% and 25%. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 A nice 12-2 run early in the 3rd cut the lead to 2 points but Maryland just too much to handle and leads 61-47 at the end of 3. Don't think the IU women have enough left to mount a 4th quarter attack and pull this one out. Maryland still shooting over 50% FG and 45% on 3s. Officials letting them play as the teams have only attempted a combined 7 FT. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Women made yet another run but in the end, they just couldn't overcome Maryland's shooting and lose 84-80. For the game, Maryland was 53% FG and 44% on 3s hitting 8-18. We were 45% and 25% (4-16) respectively. Scoring: Berger 26 (13-21 FG), Holmes 18 (8-16 FG), Penn 10, Cardaño-Hillary 9, Patberg 9, Gulbe 8. Rebounding: Holmes 11 and Gulbe 9. Assists: Berger 6, Patberg 4. Women go on the road to face Penn State on Thursday at 6:00. No TV coverage. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
