IUWBB - News and Notes

Recommended Posts

Seems like an epidemic of season ending injuries in women's basketball.

LSU WBB sophomore forward Sa'Myah Smith is out for the season with a knee injury; she was averaging 11.7 PPG and 7.6 RPG this season

And also this re:  LSU program --  LSU WBB guard Kateri Poole (transfer from Ohio State before 2022-23 season) is "not with the ... team"; "Mulkey declined [to] say if, or when, Poole will return to the team"

Reese hasn't been with the team since she was benched 4 1/2 games ago. Mulvey has been largely silent, but she is expected to play their next game.

2/22 game against Iowa is sold out.

Indiana Versus Iowa On Feb. 22 Sold Out - Indiana University Athletics

Every team besides Purdue and Ohio State have sold out their game vs Iowa. Also, Iowa has sold out every home game. Ohio State usually only opens 10k for women's basketball and curtains off balcony. They have opened up balcony for this one and want to sell all 19k now.

Purdue has only a few left in upper level but still kind of ironic that they are only team with tickets left against Iowa in original configuration and game is a week away. Think that and IU eventually sell out by game time but still worth noting. Growing up Purdue would have been first to sell out a high profile game. Not last.

Think Katie Gearlds has them on right track but this is another little nugget that shows how much damage Sharon Versyp did to program and Purdue continuing to hold onto her while she struggled.

On a related note, the game in Bloomington vs. Purdue has to be really close to sold out as IU only lets one buy 12 GA Tickets at once. Every other game this season until now and going forward allows one to buy up to 150 GA tickets at once.

You guys want to know what it takes to not just be ‘good’, but to be REALLY REALLY GOOD?

Sara Scalia interviewed by the Hoosier Hysterics:

Favorite movie? “Don’t really have one.”

Favorite TV show? “Don’t watch much tv.”

Favorite music to get hyped with before a game? “I don’t really listen to much music.”

So what DOES get you hyped before a game? “Shooting.”

Favorite book? “Mind and the Gym.”

You’re from Minnesota, how’s your ice skating? “I don’t know how to skate. I was always in the gym.”

God damn the kid is a basketball dream come true.

She's gotta learn not to talk so much, worked for OG

Kaitlyn Chen5’8 or 5’9” guard from Princeton would be a great addition to IU Ladies for 2024-2025 season….. another big.

Is she in the portal? IU has beaten her twice at Princeton so could have if 'you can't beat them join them despite my best efforts' situation ala Sara Scalia when she was at Minnesota.

You consider a 5'8" / 5'9" player a big?   Right now, Lexi at 5'9" is the shortest player on our published roster.  So Mack and Lilly are ultra-bigs?

Ivy league doesn't allow for a fifth year so they move on if they want to keep playing.

God point. However, she could simply decide to not take her COVID year. Would be great get though and IU fans have first hand account of it.

Wonder if that was a typo, otherwise odd wording. Patberg was listed at 5'11 and played guard.

K. Chen from west coast and 5 star at 95 in high school.  With, Meister (I assume), Parrish, Garzon, Moore-McNeil, and Chen…along with Bargesser…and LaMendola, Beaumont, and Sedvik and the others would make IU Ladies a very deep threat 2024-2025.
