Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Slow start (where have we heard that before) for the women as they commit 8 TOs in the opening quarter and trail 16-12. Yeaney played 3 min. in her first game back. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 12-2 IU run. Women up 24-18. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Not a very exciting game to watch even though we're leading 27-18 at halftime. Another 6 IU TOs and we've allowed Butler to grab 10 offensive rebounds. Fortunately, Butler only shooting 25% FG and 2-11 on 3s. They were only 1-15 in the quarter. We're shooting 56% FG and 4-7 on 3s. Wise 7 pts, Penn 6, Berger & Holmes 5 each. Wise and Holmes 3 reb. each. HoosierAloha and GaryP 2 Quote
Aaron Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 More IU fans here then Butler fans. IU has pulled out to a double figures lead after a very slow start. Alford Bailey and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Just not clicking on all cylinders tonight. Leading 41-31 at the end of 3 but just not able to really put a foot on Butler's throat. Now have 20 TOs for the game but shooting 54% vs 27% for Butler. Berger and Yeaney with 3 fouls apiece. Bendu's played 9 min., scored 3 pts., 3 fouls and 2 TO but it's just great to know that she's able to start working her way back in game situations. Wise 9 pts, Holmes 8, Berger 7. Wise 5 reb, Holmes 4. LockdownD, HoosierAloha and mamasa 3 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Another win for IU by a score of 64-53. Patberg 14 pts.; Berger 12; Holmes 10, Wise 9. Wise 6 reb; Holmes 5; Gulbe & Penn 4 each. 21 total TOs, 6 from Berger. Hoosiers shoot 54% to 31% for Butler. Yeaney played a total of 10 min, scored 3 pts., 2 reb, 1 asst. Next up Sunday afternoon at home against Youngstown State. Mackenzie Holmes is going to be a pleasure to watch. This young lady knows how to play the game and isn't afraid to mix it up inside. In 19 min. she scored 10 pts. on 4-5 FG; 5 reb, 1 asst; 1 stl. She had 1 foul and no TOs. thebigweave, LockdownD, mamasa and 1 other 4 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Getting Bendu back earlier than expected will be a real plus towards the end of the season provided she doesn't suffer any kind of setback. This team has some solid depth and our opponents can't focus all of their defensive effort on just 1 or 2 players. You hate to get overly optimistic but this team can do some special things this season. mamasa, HoosierAloha and LockdownD 3 Quote
LockdownD Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 This was a nice road win. It was great to see Bendu back on the court along with Berger. Youngstown on Sunday should give the team opportunity to focus on eliminating turnovers and allow Grace and Bendu to knock off some of the rust off their game. Not meaning to look past an opponent, but the following Sunday will bring UCLA to AH and 20ish turnovers will likely contribute to a loss. HoosierAloha, Alford Bailey and mamasa 3 Quote
Aaron Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 First time seeing team in person this year and everyone I talked to said it was IU's worst game this year. If that is the case this team is going to be very special as they still controlled the pace of play and were up double figures the entire second half and won pretty easily. I like though that the program standards have been raised to the point that a double digit road win over a decent in-state rival is far from the team's best. Shout out also to the half IU crowd there who helped set Butler's attendance record. Very cool of the girls to come over and acknowledge the crowd after the game.
