He posts a lot. Fine. There's some local bias behind it, sure. But Luke Brown is good. I experienced something very similar in my hometown with a former teammate. A school with graduating class sizes in the 40s-50s that produces a D1 player: you're damn right the community is proud of that kid.

As far as I'm concerned the local point of view is valuable and will be very useful in tracking his progress in all seasons.

Again, the post volume is impressive. But there's absolutely no ill-intent and he's pleasant. There are others on the board who could stand to follow suit when it comes to written demeanor.

Back to Luke Brown. I'm disappointed I won't be able to make Friday's game against Delta. Top scorer vs an undefeated. In the off chance they pull off the upset I'll be there Saturday. Hoping I can catch the stream on Friday.

Thanks! Hope I’m not a nuisance.  Friday should be a great day if basketball.  I’ve seen two of deltas games and used to coach youth with one of their assistants.  As far as 8 kids deep they are one of the more solid teams I’ve watched especially at 3A so while I’ll be cheering I sure won’t have my expectations very high.  The other kids on the team get carried by Luke but they still show up and work hard so for their sake I’m just hoping it’s somewhat competitive.  Also thrilled to have Luke up against competition people will consider worthy.  Also I’m a Blackford fan but if Delta moves on I’ll certainly pull for them to make a deep run as it’s exciting for any local-ish team to be well put together. Sorry you can’t make it but I’ll try and post some updates as I don’t think the bsn is allowed to broadcast the game on YouTube

I hear ya.  That was a good game other than the first quarter! Good all around for tayson.  That kid is explosive.  Hear anything your way about Purdue wanting him also ?.....next year Luke vs Tayson should be entertaining

I heard early on Purdue had shown interest but I asked my buddy about it at the game and he hadn't heard anything further. It's really the same thing with Parker, he dominates the lower level competition, I'd like to see him play in tournaments this summer too.

Purdue was at the game against Muncie Burris last week.

My uncle used to send us articles in the mail on damon bailey when i was a kid. I get it. My uncle was his teacher in heltonville and was darn proud. Funny thing was when he met my wife the first time he brought him up and she just looked at me like huh. She is not from indiana. The small town pride is big no question.

Interesting the Purdue insiders and message board haven’t mentioned it.

I’m not a Purdue historian so I couldn’t tell you by name but they sent a former player from one of their more successful teams to the Daleville game that the governor and billy Sheppard attended.  They then had scouts or former players ( again I wouldn’t be able to tell you by name ) that were at home against northwestern and jay county, then at Burris and Frankton.  If there were any others I didn’t see it but they spent a lot of the game and post game with Luke’s dad and after the frankton game when the butler (Barry Collier ) and Wisconsin reps left the Purdue rep was the only one to go down the long hall back to Blackfords locker room.

That’s a lot of ncaa violations by Purdue. Only people that can scout recruits are the head coach and his assistants.

No grey area. An AD definitely cannot be out on the recruiting trail

Right so the grey area would be that Barry Collier can attend a basketball game for fun if he chooses to ?  I mean we are talking about various schools having non coaches or reps there ...I’m not an expert on the regulations but I would doubt their would be such prevalent malfeasance in plain sight if there wasn’t a way to have it appear to be kosher

Painter is one of the cleanest coaches in the college game. 0 chance they would violate an ncaa rule scouting a sophomore

I’ve heard the Burris game was likely Greg Gary but other than that I couldn’t say who else was watching these games. If any former Purdue player was there I’m certain it wasn’t to recruit.

As of this writing, he has 91 posts - ALL OF THEM are in this one thread. They involve a sophomore high school player who, at this point, may top out as a mid major talent. Indiana may never scout him, much less offer.

On another forum he has 107 posts - ALL OF THEM again in the Luke Brown thread.

He has stated in the past he wants to be Luke Brown's dad and, separately, that he wants to be Luke Brown. He passes this off as a joke here. Judge for yourself. Mods - I'm sorry in advance for linking to another forum:

This is deeply, DEEPLY weird and uncomfortable.

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone here. A person this obsessed with a kid and who has made the statements above, causes alarm bells to go off in my head. This is far from a simple "local point of view."

If everyone STILL thinks I'm overreacting, I will close up shop on this topic and ignore the thread.
