Uspshoosier Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Realistically though who are you going to schedule against them? They were already booked with MSU... Purdue? I’m just asking I thought it was kind of a head scratcher too.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appI’m sure ESPN didn’t mind the matchup. Ratings for that game should be solid Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

You can send them to the barn in Minny but you know damn well ratings will be through the roof with Duke at IU. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

That and the K/Collins lineage would've been a storyline along with K going back to his hometown. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Outside of IU fans do people remember IU losing by 30 to duke early in the regular season or do they remember IU beating Kentucky in the second round?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierDYT 2 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Most people don't remember either I would imagine. Maybe not but I’m guessing a non IU fan will remember a game in the NCAA tournament that probably busted their bracket instead of a non conference game in late November Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

If they aren't on a Duke type level it matters less but for 5 stars it'll have "some" impact. Ultimately it's one game and it'll be forgotten for the most part but for a night it'll be impactful. HoosierHoops1 Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Just like us pounding UNC into the dirt in '12. It didn't appear to hurt them. They prob got Pinson and Meeks after that and both were Indiana targets. Quote

Popular Post Stuhoo Posted November 27, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted November 27, 2017 Okay...so here's the problem with us having any chance at all against Duke: Duke is stacked! They have two of the likely top five picks in the next draft; in fact, they have FIVE likely NBA early picks in their rotation. On the other hand, we have a under talented team, with a couple of reasonably well-ranked players. Our leaders are a physically strong but not that quick guard and a over-achieving senior forward who hasn't been on the floor all that much. Yes, we've got some size and strength, but it's largely young and raw, and hasn't had as much floor time as we'd like. Even our head coach is new to the program, and is going against the venerable Coach K. How the heck can we possibly compete with this #1 ranked team?!? Oh...and by the way, if you're trying to identify who the people I've cited in the paragraph above are, the answers are: Jay Williams and Mike Dunleavy. Also Carlos Boozer, Chris Duhon and Dahntay Jones. Tom Coverdale, Jared Odle, Jeff Newton. Mike Davis. "Duke is just a name on a jersey. They're not the Lakers. Shaq and Kobe Bryant are not going to walk out of the dressing room in Lexington. We've got fight, man. We're not like the teams they beat by 40 who lay down and die. We're not punks. Nobody's punking us. Yeah, they got more NBA lottery picks, but it's Duke, man. It's just a name. I only fear one person and that's God. And the only human person I fear is my mother." Me So Hornsby Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 There is no other team I would rather play at home in the ACC/B1G tourney. Yea we might get boat raced, but who cares? Give us a top 10 opponent coming into the hall in the non conference every year! No one expects us to win, so we’re playing with house money. We keep it competitive with Duke and we get some confidence rolling. I am super excited about this game, no matter the result. Stromboli Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 As always, Stuhoo, your use of formatting is exemplary. We're missing Newton, Jeffries, Coverdale, Moye, Odle... Moye is spot-on with the sentiment. You can't be afraid of them, get out there and punch back. But this team hasn't really matured yet into what it can be. I look forward to having Clifton, Forrester, and Davis out there controlling the lane with length and athleticism in the same way that 2002 team could. I want to know who will emerge with Coverdale's grit and leadership. I want to see which of these 6'7" guys is going to come through as our #1 playmaker (Smith? Anderson? Hunter? ) Who knows, maybe these guys will turn into one of those teams that can make a run. For Wednesday, I hope our guys walk out of it with some confidence that they carry with them for the season. Stuhoo 1 Quote
