If you want to compete in the P5 conferences you do not I repeat do not hire an assistant with no HC experience. That applies to baseball as well.

You know who else didn't have HC experience and is running a P5 team? Kirby Smart. Given he worked with Saban for a decade.

Here's the difference in the game.

"Special" teams
- twice kicking it out of bounds on kickoffs
- blocked punt
- shanked punts

Offense
- run north/south get yards
- hold onto the ball

Defense
- wrap up and tackle
- put Fant on Moore

We need this game in a bad way. I don't like how the team makes dumb play after dumb play. It seems we don't learn from previous weeks.

Heck, I don't even dislike Allen.  It doesn't get much dumber than hiring a guy with no HC experience because you didn't want to do your job.  IU needs a new AD in a bad way.

I just can't understand how we didn't do our due diligence. Made the emotional, popular local hire versus weighing all options.

Fred Glass has literally only done 1 good thing.. fire Tom Crean(Wait and see on Archie). Indiana sports are just in a bad spot. Basketball isn't where it should be. Football can't catch a break simply because of coaching. Indiana could have made a HUGE splash with a head coach hire in football and instead go with Allen. Just doesn't make sense.

Don't give him too much credit there.  He waited two years too long.

Three years. Crean should have been gone after in 2014 after not making any postseason tournament with two McDonald's All-Americans on its roster.

I thought that was 2.  Wrong thread but that was nothing short of complete incompetence.

Were we just that spoiled with Coleman and Howard? These runnings backs have god awful vision, cut ability.. running back ability.

Combo of that and the O-line dropping a couple notches too.

Coleman and Howard had better offensive lines to run behind.
