I dont like Holtman honestly not sure why I just think he is the Greg Marshall type. Stays where he is comfortable for awhile and rack up the wins. Just dont see him at a big time school. Probably wrong though. Your list is a lot of guys who are interesting. I have my own list of coaches I like not necessarily for IU but some. I want to see how Chris Beard if they make it, Andy Enfield, Chris Mack, Ed Cooley just cause I like him plus Holt but never want him here, Mike White who is a star on the rise and Tim Jankovich do. I see most of them becoming big names. I am also excited to see Collins but just like Beard nothing is really expected out of schools like their at so I wont take the tourney as their bad coaches of they fall flat. Beard has some work to do to make it but I wanna see him in the NIT too. I think they could win it.

He has been at Butler only a few years. Was at Gardner Webb before that. His overall record isn't great. At Butler he is a .700 coach. Gardner Webb was a struggle. He improved in his third year and became a Butler Assistant. I like his X and O game, but really want to see him make a run in the tournament.

I'm not thrilled about all the guys on my list. But they are all there because they are younger, with a good résumé, and have built their programs to either make their first serious runs this March, or make a run which serves as evidence to their body of work. Each I could see as being a fit for IU.

I like Beard but I consider him a unique case given RMK. Beard isn't coming to IU because of RMK and I don't think he's quite there yet, regardless. Cooley is a Providence native and I don't think he's done enough yet.

Enfield is another guy I should add to my list. The guy is a winner and he's built that USC team. Can he make a big step in the PAC 12 and NCAA tournaments? If so, that would prove as justification of his third year building the program and he should be considered. Jankovich is another winner. Weak conference and he's older, but I'm interested to see what he can do in the tournament. He has very strong assistant coaching experience. I hope SMU matches up against Cincy in the AAC conference finals. Jankovich might end up being a legitimate candidate for Mizzou or LSU.

I don't care for Mack at all. Xavier has been a huge disappointment. Hopefully Butler dashes their tournament hopes this Sunday. Don't see a reason why IU would ever take Mack over Holtmann. L'Ville or UK maybe, but Mack shouldn't be a fit for us.

Holtman, Archie, Collins, Fife- just not confident these guys can recruit at a high level. I am not one who thinks all we need is a fundamental coach. I'd like to see IU actually contend nationally. Need to recruit at a high level for that. Top 10 classes. I could see Archie growing into that kind of coach/recruiter. Hard to see it from the others. Sure hope the Billy D talks go somewhere..that's the closest thing to a sure thing.

Here it is.

P.S. Not sure if it's kosher to link to other boards.  If not, then please delete.

I went ahead and removed it because technically it's a no-no but if 41 or Pap give it the thumbs up I'll put it back in there for ya.

There are going to be unknowns with any coach.  We didn't know for sure if Crean could recruit at a high enough level here, he had never done it before.  Holtmann or A. Miller or Collins would have every resource needed at their disposal right here to recruit at a high level, and make no mistake the Indiana name would help them just as it helped Crean.

I'd prefer to see more from Fife.  I would love to see him back on the IU bench though.

The only way Dane Fife is coming back to the IU bench is as head coach, probably with Michael Lewis and Tom Coverdale at his side as assistants. And a 30 year solution like that intrigues me.

I have NO doubt that, absent a targeted, successful run at Billy Donovan, Dane Fife will be a name that any IUBB search committee considers AND interviews.

Collins recruiting Chicago with the iu brand intrigues me very much.

Greg Marshall's age is a deterrent for me. Plus I don't think he will be able to recruit 5 star type players. He is successful because he knows his stuff. Not sure it will translate to the big stage.

Same here.Along with his age is the prickly, strange demeanor.Weve had enough of that lately.

We need a high profile name or rock star and we need to pay for it. Someone who could rally the masses!

Billy Donovan, Sean Miller, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Shaka Smart, Izzo, etc.

Sean Miller is not leaving Arizona. Can't see Izzo or Wright leaving their current gigs, either.

Shaka Smart, no. Just no.
