Freddie has no business playing unless it's garbage time. His basketball IQ is non existent and when he's in on offense it's almost like we're playing 4 on 5 because you don't have to defend him and he's almost guaranteed to turn it over when he does touch the ball...I mean he double dribbled in the game yesterday. After elementary school ball that should NEVER happen! He's athletic yes, but a basketball player hardly. Play him during Priller time and that's fine. I honestly don't see what Crean sees in him. If we had gotten him as a freshman you have time to develop a player like him but with only 2 years you're wasting a scholly on a project

Two guys that will play huge roles now for Indiana with OG Anunoby out: Zach McRoberts and Freddie McSwain. Were critical against MSU. #iubb
@jon rothstein
Critical lol I guess I have a different definition of critical then Jon

Let's not expect him to drop 33 every game though please. The kid takes enough hassle as is even with how good he has been for us. If we higher expectations you all will think he should lead us to a title or he is selfish lol.

Btw I don't think any of you had a problem with him being selfish yesterday.

You never know, he might not be stopped, he could just be off. Heading into the MSU game I would have said "who on IU will stop Miles Bridges?"

RoJo and McRoberts ended up locking him up.

Bryson Scott sure did. There are plenty others that can as well. But yeah, Michigan doesn't have a great answer for him.

I just don't think Michigan is that good. We should win. Northwestern will be much tougher.

Michigan is streaky. If they are hitting jump shots it could be a long night. They beat a good Smu team. I'm not saying they are world

beaters but any road game will bring a different challenge. I would guess Michigan and northwestern will be favored going into these games

In my opinion we played much better today because Crean was forced into a smaller rotation thus no ridiculous substitution patterns and left his best players in until they HAD to come out either to fatigue or foul troubles. That has been a major issue this year is Crean trying to go 10-11 deep with this team thinking he's going to wear teams down and keep our legs fresh when all it really does is disrupt the flow and chemistry of the players on the floor and not letting this team get into much of a groove. I think that once Morgan comes back, Freddie shouldn't see a minute of floor time and only have DD, (one of Cujo or Green), and McRoberts come off the bench. McRoberts is our new spark plug and glue guy and needs to be seeing more minutes in my opinion...he's basketball IQ is off the charts and hardly ever makes a mistake or shoots anything he shouldn't. Crean just needs to stop with his gimmick game plan of running and just be smart and play your best players as much as possible...like almost all teams do

Late to the party---watched the game and it was a big win!  We seem to play better each year when our back is against the wall. Us--versus the world mentality.  Here's to hoping we can keep the streak going at Michigan!

Thank you once again James Blackmon---came up big in two must-win games in a row. Does he have a third in him?

RoJo and JB are a great backcourt----sure wish we could get Hartman back---is that a remote possibility ---any news there?

Great to hear Dakich singing the praises of Davis and questioning TB. I feel the same way and hope TB gets dialed back in again like he was last year and that he quits falling so much in love with his perimeter game. We need him inside...

I agree with every thing but the McSwain comment.Much time no but spot minutes probably needed.I really dont think he hurt us at all in the Mich St game and with OG hurt and Morgan foul prone I think he will be needed.

I like mcswain..if he can catch on quickly he could definitely be useful off the bench. Him and McRoberts seem to have a team mentality. Also I love DD but tb the last two games has been playing on point.strech DD was in they got within 4(69-65)streak ended when tb came in. Just gotta light a fire under their asses. Think the hate of all players need to stop tho tbh. Hoping this team is hitting their stride about now.

NBC Sports:

Player of the Week: James Blackmon Jr., Indiana

This could have been the week where Indiana’s season collapsed.

On Wednesday night, O.G. Anunoby, who is arguably the most irreplaceable player on the Hoosier roster, injured his knee badly enough that he will need surgery and miss the rest of the season. The injury happened in the first half of a game against Penn State. Tom Crean said after the game that the team was crying in the locker room at half time.

The Hoosiers then proceeded to blow a big lead to the Nittany Lions, allowing Penn State to draw even in the final minute of regulation. That’s when Blackmon stepped up. The Hoosier star buried a three at the buzzer to give Indiana the win; a loss in that game could have been the kind of thing that sent Indiana’s season spiraling. The shot wasn’t a morale booster as much as it was a morale saver.

On Saturday, Indiana put together one of their best games of the season despite the fact that they were without Anunoby and Juwan Morgan, who was dealing with a foot injury that has now kept him out of back-to-back games. Blackmon, again, was the star, matching a career-high with 33 points.

Suddenly, Indiana has won four of their last five games and are sitting at 4-3 in the Big Ten standings, just two games out of first place.

In the long term, I don’t know if Indiana is going to be able to play at the level Hoosier fans expect without Anunoby. But in the short term, Saturday was an impressive win in a trying week, and it was Blackmon who stepped up to lead with the Hoosiers needed it the most.
