IUFB Offseason Updates

This has been the MO the last few years with the football team. I can think of OSU two years ago as well (although Sudfeld got hurt as I recall).  It's a much better problem to have then getting blown out but we haven't been able to close out or put away good teams. We let them stick around and then lose in a nail bitter. The one time we did do it was to Mizzou b/c we put the clamp down on the run game. WE have to have some kind of run game this year if we hope to beat these teams.

One thing that would help our run game is if the QB play can at least keep the defense honest, and last season Lagow couldn't do that.  If we can't keep the defense honest they start to focus on stopping the run and daring the QB to beat them through the air.

The OL has to open up rushing lanes, but the QB play has to be better than it was as well.

Dinardo wasn't impressed with our OL/RB today. Other than Cronk, nobody stood out.

This is a big worry imo. Hurt us last year too. Couldn't make any big play running the ball. Put all the pressure on Lagow.

No offense to dinardo.... But he's been wrong a lot about players. Lol. Love the guy as he brought my cousin to IU for football scholarship, but from what I'm hearing we have a lot of young OL that seem ready and are actually really impressing coaches.

He hates on IU a lot. I think he's still salty after he was let go for HEP.

Loved Lagow talking about offense from last year.  Mentioned with this new offense he's allowed to go through reads and isn't told to key on one player.

But yeah I think we'll be fine @OL, may not be great but it'll be good enough. I'm still waiting to see a RB step up and be the next 1k yard rusher though.

Also need to remember that this is only the third day of fall practice. I'm sure (or I hope) once the season starts the team will look more in sync than they did today in front of the B1G crew.

Last year at USF. Hillers O-line paved the way for a rushing attack that averaged 285 yds a game(5th nationally) and allowed 15 sacks in 13 games(14th nationally.)

Ohio State will be themselves as always. I've got no doubt about that. But I think IU plays above that level on that night. I'm so excited!

Word is that Tronti is giving Ramsey a run for the #2 QB.

That's good...although unless you're the #1 QB, you're still holding a clipboard most of the time.

I would think that unless Tronti has a chance of unseating Lagow, it would be better to redshirt him.  Don't need to burn a year of eligibility just for a few backup snaps here or there.

Schiano says D-Line of OSU better than D-Line he had in Tampa. I'm very interested to see if our O-line can hold their own in this game and open up some holes for the RB's/give Lagow enough time to find open WR's
