Kevin Wilson Resigned

Recommended Posts

In a sport where negligence towards injuries has led to serious long term medical issues (CTE), CKW's attitude and words are completely unprofessional and harmful.

His biggest crime was being told by his boss to stop, agreeing to stop, and then continuing the same actions. Ditto to the coach who was fired for "grabbing a players elbow".

What attitude and words are those? I haven't seen them.

Screaming at Trainers for reporting an injury and insulting and screaming at players who were hurt.

I suppose that's probably just Andrew Licks fault though.

I've missed those reports. Link please?

Thanks. I've read this...sounds like an athletic trainer thing. I've seen nothing about Wilson's "attitude and words" that indicate he deserves to be fired. Can somebody provide a link to that pease?

Screaming at athletic trainers for reporting an injury? Link please?

In the ESPN article that was previously linked.

"The trainers would hate to go up and tell him about injured players because Wilson would [curse] them," said the player, who requested anonymity. "Then he'd go into the training room and tell the players, 'No, you're going to [expletive] practice,' and, of course, the players would go practice."

Well if you haven't seen or heard it then it must just be made up I am guessing. Him getting fired was for no reason. A facade that will end with him collecting his full salary while on IU's sideline and not just one year of his six year salary he signed. I mean he didn't resign and will fight this fully since there is obviously nothing to the numerous tweets and articles throughout this thread. You are the only one utilizing common sense in this thread and will right all of our wrongs I truly hope. Yes, he resigned willingly for negativity and words, and didn't collect the money he would receive under a binding contract out of the generosity of his heart. See everyone! Kevin Wilson not only did things for our football program some in their lifetime haven't witnessed. He also gave back a ton of money out of kindness. I agree with you Josh!

Is that firable?  I mean, we've seen players like Jordan Howard who wouldn't play despite clearance.  Wilson didn't make him play.

Tonight we've heard that Tom Crean makes OG shoot the ball while injured.  How similar is that?  Are we firing coaches for bad words?  I hate this firing.

Hello Mr Extreme.  Is there a middle ground?

All I'm asking for is a fireable story.  I see that you're choosing an unknown story that must be the case because,...... while I'm asking for the story.  Nobody has provided it, yet they belittle anybody who asks for it.

Thanks for the insight!  All I was asking you to do was provide evidence on your claims.  None so far.

Wilson resigned. Meaning he didn't make the department go through the headache of fighting the terms of a contract in a firing situation. Meaning he knew he fudged up and it would get ugly for everyone if he made the university fire him and the university made the cause for firing him a public matter.

Not rocket science. I doubt all of the reasons this seperation happened ever become public. Because it sounds like there were a lot.

I wasn't belittling. I was agreeing with you. The tweets from players, media, and individuals throughout this thread and on Twitter are lying. I am with you man. Going to many games and being around different people of Bloomington. I think there is way too much hearsay going on. It isn't written in stone for you and I to see and signed by Wilson. F'ing people and their lies!

I think that is a great question. Perhaps not an obvious firable offense but why then would Wilson leave so much money on the table?

I don't get the sense it was any one thing but an accumulation of issues that made Glass finally say enough is enough.  In essence, by agreeing to accept the one-year salary and nothing more, Wilson "agreed" with Glass and it was a negotiated settlement.  With the amount of money on the table per his contract, if Wilson felt he was in a position of strength, surely he wouldn't have resigned and forced Glass' hand.

I don't think many of us like the firing either. But after reading the star and ESPN articles combined with Wilson leaving so much money behind, instead of being upset with Glass the target of the frustration may be Wilson himself.

Glass showed he was willing to keep Wilson around based on the extension last year. It really appears as if Wilson gave him no choice.

When you agree with your boss that you went to far and won't do it again but end up doing it again it's a fireable offense. When it has to do with serious and life changing situations it makes it that much more fireable. When you don't fight it it's kind of you acknowledging your wrong.

The fact that Wilson hasn't fought it and took such a cut on the buyout says there is more than the reports show.  Naturally, those reports are always carefully worded.

One thing, concussions are bad but it's not just those that cause CTE.  The routine, subconcussive hits add up and contribute as well.
