    Coronavirus and Its Impact

My comment wasn’t directed at you personally it was aimed at the false reports of 100% capacity. It’s all over the news down here now that the 100% capacity reports weren’t accurate and were an error on TMC’s part which the hospitals in the TMC system had already refuted shortly after the initial report. It just irked me because I was trying to get tested again to see if I was finally negative and I’ve had to wait a week for the results(tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I popped positive) and it’s because the media hasn’t gotten their facts straight before reporting and it’s making people freak out. The Dr that ended up giving me my latest test, said most of the people he’s been testing haven’t had any symptoms they’re just worried and want tested. That’s causing the back log for Regular sick people and those who have tested positive like myself.

All I have to say is that if paying college players becomes legal, I'd better get my damn EA Sports 2K NCAA football and basketball back.

It's kind of like the steroid scandal in baseball. The NCAA benefited by having certain blue blood schools continue to stay on top by cheating, much like MLB benefited by having the home run races. The ripple effect is that in order to stay competitive, many schools that otherwise would not have done so (just like many players that would not have done so in the steroid scandal) felt that had to in order to compete. Honestly, screw 'em. IMO, there are more important things in life than winning some games if you can't do it on the up and up. Jerry Sloan was once asked if he would ever have Dennis Rodman on his team given all of the headaches he caused.....Sloan was an ultra-competitive coach, but even he had his limits. His reply was that "I guess some things are more important to me than winning."

So strange. If anyone is a straight to NBA talent it’s this kid. Why bother with this commitment, especially this early? My only answer is for Michigan State marketing. This kid won’t play college basketball. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Aubrey Burks to IUFB

IU football recruiting: Florida based class of 2021 safety Aubrey Burks commits to Indiana June 26, 2020 Mike Schumann IUFB, Recruiting 0 The Florida to IU pipeline remains strong for head coach Tom Allen. Hailing from the Sunshine State, class of 2021 safety Aubrey Burks has committed to Indiana. He follows a long line of recent defensive backs from the state that headed to Bloomington. The Auburndale, Florida based Burks broke the news on his Twitter page on Friday afternoon. The 6-foot and 195 pounds Burks also played outside linebacker in high school and he projects to the husky position in IU’s 4-2-5 scheme. In 2019 Burks recorded 63 tackles including 17 for a loss and 6 sacks for Auburndale High School. He also forced three fumbles, recovering two, and had two interceptions. Burks scored twice from the defensive side of the football. Burks was named The Ledger first time All-County (Polk) as a linebacker. He started his high school career at IMG Academy before transferring to Auburndale. Burks is a three-star recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, Burks is the No. 757 player overall and the No. 56 safety nationally. He is the first commit in IU’s 2021 class that projects to the safety or husky positions. Burks chose Indiana over a list of primary suitors that included Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Mississippi State and West Virginia. In total Burks had more than 30 offers. The IU recruiting class of 2021 now has 10 verbal commits. You can learn more about each member of the class here.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

It’s actually more common than you would think. I know you are southern Indiana so me describing Parkview in Fort Wayne doesn’t mean much. But if memory serves me correct Parkview Regional Medical Center is where everyone is funneled into. They had 99 ICU beds. Of those 99 around 50 are CVICU. Out of those 99 they sit at least at 85% capacity daily. The 2nd floor is all ICU and PICU. Completely separate. Third floor is all long term ICU. The overflow used to be shift everyone a floor up. I won’t pretend to know the plan for this, but a floor is around 60 beds. 30 of those can be converted. With this I am sure they have more that can be converted. With Indiana having horrible heart issues they won’t take away from CVICU. Those rooms are set up in a way they can do emergency surgery in the room. Most health systems have actually reduced rooms over the last 20-30 rooms so they could stay at 80%+ capacity. If you aren’t, your health system is losing money. ICU in Northern Indiana including smaller hospitals regularly stay at 80% or higher. I have no clue on Texas, but I doubt in a larger city they would drop much further below that number.

Usually they sit at almost full capacity. Most hospitals have overflow ICU rooms they can convert to ICU. Smaller hospitals can convert more rooms than are currently listed as ICU rooms. Now if it has to be a negative pressure room that’s another story and typically there aren’t many of those. Larger hospitals that carry 500-1000 beds have ICUs that are usually 10% of their overall beds. They can usually convert so that 20-25% of their overall beds can be ICU. Depends on the health system and how new their buildings are. Guessing Daltons hospital hasn’t touched their overflow so even when they say 80% or whatever they are really at 40-50% at most. People can see the original numbers of almost full and don’t realize how agile hospitals can be in a pinch. When you get into the overflow and are almost maxed out that is New York. When people are in the halls you know.

That's the thing when the media reports on ICU capacity -- what is it normally? Have to compare it to something, but then it wouldn't be as "scary."

Yup -- as criticized as it has been when the parent of a top athlete creates an AAU summer team, the creation of an entire sham high school takes it to a whole new level. Prolific Prep look out, here come Ypsi Academy!

I guess the recruiting services will just have to adjust their rankings based on which program a player chooses. Oh wait, they already do that.

So, we get 2 of the top 4 and we would have a fantastic class. Hard not to root hardest for Kaufman and Mohammed. Longino is quite intriguing at #32. But Kaufman and any of the others would be solid. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

This isn’t something Dook just started doing recently. They’ve played the game for at least 20 years. Are people still this naive to believe Dook can land top players just because of their name? Kids (see: handlers) would rather play at an LSU and get paid than going to Dook to play for free. Scouts will find talent whether their at Dook or a DePaul/Creighton. That statement was from June 25th. The matter at hand was talking about how the hospital data stopped getting reported after Thursday, June 26th when the hospitals first said they were at 100% capacity in their ICUs.
