I've watched him probably a half dozen times or so for Bloomington South the past two years. I'm not a scout or an expert. I do support South, though. I think some folks see his ranking and can't understand why Archie hasn't offered Leal yet. I think you saw why. He can look very pedestrian at times and fade into the game. Personally I have never seen him dominate a game (although I know he has in other games.) I may be bad luck because I witnessed probably some of his worst games. You accurately described how he has played a few times. The Edgewood game at the beginning of the year was low point. Outhustled in that one, too. As a whole though, he has potential. Currently a good shooter. Nowhere near a Hulls or Roth or Zeisloft at this moment, in my opinion. But still good. Has the potential to be an above average offensive player at the next level. Solid size for his position. Can defend well when healthy and engaged. Is well coached. Intelligent individual. Good teammate. Evidently lights it up in AAU. I believe he has strong ties to IU... But I won't dive into that for privacy purposes. As I have said in the past, I'd be happy for him to become a Hoosier. I think we get him if we want him. But he can't be the centerpiece of the class. He's a support piece, in my opinion. If you liked the addition of guys like Damezi Anderson and Armaan Franklin, I think you'll like Leal. I'd guess his impact will be somewhere around there. What's funny is the amount of negativity you see against Jalen Windham but love Leal. My opinion is that their about the same.6 points -

Bloomington has some really good food. Nick’s is like a museum of IU-ness that has food. Nick’s is most certainly NOT where one goes for really good food. Nick’s is a good choice to take a high school recruit who probably appreciates an over cooked burger and salty fries anyway.5 points

I don't quite get the pessimism. He had good things to say about each school. With respect to IU, he said the home visit with Archie was "really good." I'm not sure what people expect out of an interview like this. I didn't read positive or negative about any of the schools. He just wasn't tipping his hand. We've been a bit of long shot all along and we'll know soon enough.4 points -

The uniform tops don’t match the bottoms. They made the borders on the shorts thicker and more pronounced then eliminated the bordering on the tops. Looks tacky and definitely doesn’t improve on what we’ve had. Probably not as big a deal as I’m making it out to be but it bothers me nonetheless.4 points -

I think the Pacers are almost in one of the worst possible spots you could be in the NBA. Middle of the pack team that puts up wins but has no shot of winning a title. Middle of the pack pick in the draft and not really a desirable free agent destination. Who knows what type of Vic will come back. Seems like the Pacers are a mid tier at best team that has a shot to win a playoff series. Don’t know how you fix it. I could also be the only one with this opinion. I recall Damon Bailey having a pedestrian McDonald's game.He did ok.Brooks is good but when things get physical defensively those spectacular putbacks and runouts will be hard to come by. Doesn't mean I didn't want him though. All Star games aren't any thing but selfish exhibitions and I don't base any expectations of ability on them.3 points -

To me, this means he understands how to play the game, not just the sport. Positioning, angles, spacing, passing away from the defense, getting to spots and getting the ball to spots where he or a team mate can do something positive, things like that. May not stand out as the best athlete on any floor, but a basketball player. I'm tired of athletes who can't play the game very well.3 points -

Not tanking was the right move for the Pacers, imo. This year's draft is a pretty weak one. When Oladipo got hurt they were 31-15. Even if they lost every single game for the rest of the season, they would've only ended with the 6th worst record in the NBA. There was just too much ground to make up at that point to make tanking worth it.1 point -

The epidemic isn't confined to basketball. From Todd Bramble, head coach of George Mason Women's Soccer: In case you’re wondering, there are over 740 women’s soccer players on the NCAA Transfer Portal right now! Seems like a lot. One theory is this is a product of players committing as freshmen/sophomores. This is unhealthy for universities, families and student athletes alike.1 point -

True. I shouldn't say it's impossible, but it's very rare that it works. It worked for UNC because Meeks and Hicks just pummeled people underneath and gave UNC a huge rebounding advantage. None of our guys next year for that description. They're good, but not dominant enough to impact an opponent's gameplan. That was the rare national champion that wasn't great at shooting 3s (except in the sweet 16 against IU unfortunately), but they made up for it with rebounding and pace. They played so much in transition that half court spacing wasn't as critical as for most teams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point -

Yes, I agree but it sounds like LSU is picking up steam so I was curious to see if distance could be a motivating factor (which does not seem to be the case). It would be disappointing if he goes to LSU because Wade is clearly guilty/slime. On the other hand there is a ton of smoke coming out of Arizona but Sean currently has the 2nd highest rated recruiting class in the country.1 point -

Excuse me, but where in the rule does it say anything about top 100 players only? And you had better believe the NBA casts a much, much, much broader net to find their players than the top 100 NCAA and international players. The idea that scouts find this process annoying doesn't reflect any conversation I've ever had with a scout. It's also ridiculous to think that they're going to get the same advice from Archie that they'd get from the league just because we know Archie is a quality coach. They might, they might not. Put a quality player in front of ten quality coaches and they are going to have some different opinions as coaching philosophies obviously vary. Boeheim, a quality coach, thought Michael Carter-Williams wasn't ready for the NBA... Carter-Williams is in his 7th season in the league now. So there's some evidence that a quality coach might disagree with other quality coaching assessments, if you needed any.1 point

A perfect example of another reason our administration has failed miserably for 20 years. Knights firing and the bs no tolerance policy started it and Creans extension pretty much bookends the last 2 decades of IU b-ball.
