ElectricBoogaloo Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Did anyone else see this article from ITH? http://www.insidethehall.com/2016/06/14/three-members-2016-recruiting-class-arriving-bloomington-week/ Quote McSwain told Inside the Hall on Tuesday morning that he has a math class to finish up at Neosho County Community College in Kansas and is scheduled to arrive in Bloomington on August 18. Is that missing the entire summer workout session? I was excited for him to join the team but now I'm kind of doubting he will be in BIG basketball shape by the start of the season. Anyone else find their expectations for this guy suddenly lowered? Quote
Alford Bailey Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Yes, unless he is a guy who can get up to speed very quickly. Quote
gfunk69 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 It's not a huge deal IMO. He probably isn't going to be playing all that much this season anyway. Also it's not like he's down there doing nothing. I'm sure that he has a strength and conditioning program that the staff sent him. Sure it's not the same as being there and building chemistry but there could be worse things Quote
HoosierHoops1 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I guess Emmitt Holt arrived in August also and his on the court performance, if repeated by FMac, would be fine by me. thebigweave, ALASKA HOOSIER, lillurk and 3 others 6 Quote
AKHoosier Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Yeah I am concerned about this, especially because he is so relatively new to basketball. I think he started playing organized bball his junior year of high school, went the juco route for 2 years (I think), and now is stepping into a B1G program. I'm not sure how much he was going to produce this year anyway, but it sure would have been nice to have him on campus already so he could start to get himself ready to go in the gym and weight room. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Not good news but this isn't an 18-yr old who has yet to experience the rigors of a college basketball season plus none of us expect him in the starting lineup. I agree with gfunk69 that I'm sure he's got a training schedule that he's expected to follow while completing his course work. I'm more worried about JBJ's knee and JM's shoulder and any impact their recoveries have on summer training regimens HoosierAloha, ALASKA HOOSIER, WayneFleekHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
