These lists these kids have drive me crazy but I keep telling myself it's better to be 1 of 12 on a list than to be 0 of 12!

Class of 2017 shooting guard Brandon Randolph has cut his list of schools to twelve. North Carolina, Louisville, Kansas, Syracuse, Oregon, Arizona, Indiana, Miami, Wake Forest, Xavier, Notre Dame and Alabama have made the cut. Randolph saw this as a great time to progress with the recruiting process.

“I felt like this was the best time for me to cut down my list because everything started to slow down and I was able to finally sit down with my parents and have a conversation about what options would be best for me,” he told MADE Hoops. “I knew I would cut down my list around this time because before I wanted to focus on camps and Peach Jam.”

Randolph looks to cut his list down further in the near future.

“I will be cutting down my list again very shortly, but I am not sure on the exact date or time period,” said Randolph.

The next step for the PSA Cardinals (NY) and Westtown School (PA) product is to set official visits.

“I have yet to set any official visits so I will have to have another sit down with my parents to weigh out my options,” he said.

Randolph will use three factors to determine which school is the right one for him.

“I am looking for the same things in a school as I always have,” said the class of 2017 prospect. “Good academics, a school that best fits into my style of play and a great connection with the coaching staff are all big factors for me.”

[Personal note:  If he's seriously concerned about academics then you can pretty quickly scratch a number of schools off his list!]

Wait a minute!  What's going on here?  On September 12, he cut his list and we weren't on it.

Nothing official until that Loi is signed. 18 year olds have been known to change their minds. I would guess this happens more then people realize. I remember a recruit tweeted a picture of stacks of letters from different colleges even though he was committed to a school

This is probably a sign the staff isn't confident in getting Tremont Waters now.

Certainly seems strange, but I've got to think there were signals from the Randolph camp that they wanted to hear more from CTC and in effect they initiated the meeting.

Boogaloo - I've always assumed that in-home visits were with the parents/guardians and the athlete but that could be a totally bad assumption on my part.

Not sure the connection there. Staff is confident they're not getting a sub 6' Waters at point so they go after a 6-6 SG instead? Are they pressing in case they miss on Wilkes? Do they believe there will be several early entries and a transfer or two? I'm not sure but going after talent at different positions doesn't really show a desperate plea, imo.

They're both guards, that's the connection.  If we miss on Waters, the next best option is we go and get a 5* talent at another guard spot rather than take a flier on some unknown 3* PG.  We need talent regardless of position.
