Hate to be talking about next year when it's only the first conference game, but is there any hope for becoming a Big Ten contender again or were we just a 2-year flash in the pan?

I didn't expect it for a few years before the season started. The Tracy Smith era is prety much gone.

You mean like...ever again?

Of course. There's no reason to get silly about this. They lost A TON of talent. But that run we just had over the last few years...that was lightning in a bottle. With that said, we made the tourney last year with a first year head coach. If things don't finish up well this year, I don't think one year without making the tourney is some huge disappointment. I mean, as far as being a "Big Ten contender", we were last year.

This year's team is just too inconsistent. Too many errors in the field.

This season's stats available at:  http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/iuhoosiers.com/documents/2016/2/19/BaseballSeason.pdf?id=20570

On the offensive side, in virtually every category, we're better than our opponent although I'm not sure how much our 27 run game may have skewed the numbers.  Likewise our pitching stats are favorable but we're struggling to put the 2 components together in the same games for more W's.

Yeah, our lite schedule this year will show that. We really haven't played anyone besides CSF. Our streak against Louisville ends this year, and it could be real ugly in that one.

Hoosiers fall 7-1. Game 2, tomorrow @ 1 pm ET.
