Im a firm believer in consistant conference success being the best indicator for future success. Bryce Drew is the guy I want at IU if Stevens is off the table. His career is off to a great start and he is in the same conference where Stevens made his name.

What do you guys think? Is there another guy you have tabbed as the "next" guy for IU?

Does Valpo have anyone in their conference to provide competition?

Conference championships are conference championships. It doesn't matter the conference. The competition and talent is usually comparable. So him winning that often is impressive regardless of conference. Just like Bo Ryan winning D2.

Bryce Drew looks solid. Another factor is recruiting, obviously they're at smaller schools, but have they gotten better players in their tenure compared to the coach before them?

If you look at recruiting at IU and compare Knight, Davis, Sampson, and Crean, then you will see there isn't much difference in talent level. Calibre of player who will stay out of trouble and go to class is another story (Sampson). But overall talent it's been pretty balanced. It's the X's and O's that have separated them.

As for Bryce Drew he is a former Indiana Mr Basketball, played professionally in the NBA and Europe. That will hold some clout walking into living rooms around the state. 2017 is a key year on state as well. Having a coach who is also a former Indiana high school star walk in and say I can show you how to get to the next level and we can win championships along the way is a huge deal in my opinion. Drew has lived what these kids are dreaming about.

Interesting. Bryce is a guy I've liked going all the way back to his high school days. Hadn't considered him at IU. I believe he is more than capable as a coach. How about big time recruiting and other aspects of the IU job?

I think anyone can recruit to IU, not something I would worry about.

Have any of these guys had any links to the job. Obviously the school can't say anything, but have any analysts, or "experts" reported about these coaches? Or is it just BtB speculation, because Mack, Drew, Stevens, and Miller all sound like excellent options.

My gut tells me any of these guys (Drew, Mack or Miller) would bring the consistency in play that we have been longing for during the Crean tenure.

I'm not sold on Archie bc he hasn't proved it at a lower level. I'll look up Mack and add his history to the OP.

I got my masters from X and live about 35 miles north of downtown and Mack is a very good coach that I would love to have at IU.
