to name a few....

I know you ended your list with the qualifying statement "...to name a few".  But the Rivals list has quite a few more names of kids with IU offers or high interest so should we draw a conclusion that your list is a list of the kids with the highest probability of wearing candy stripes and names you didn't list are really long shots?

Fwiw. Sexton 12 on Rivals new update.

Seeing his exposure and rating blast off is interesting. So much is put into the summer AAU circuit recruiting/analyzing wise. He had a great Junior year and was virtually unknown until this Summer circuit.

I know he isn't an IU candidate but he serves as one of the most intriguing recruits I've followed in how far he's jumped in 1 Summer.

No, not at all. I was running low on time. Guys way deeper are very much in the mix. Justin Smith comes to mind who is ranked outside the top 100. I haven't seen all these guys play or anything, but that's a mistake. Some guys I listed, like Waters and Weatherspoon do seem like longer shots.

Bamba I guess, sorta. I'm not totally sure what to make of that whole thing. There are a lot of positive things swirling around with the AAU program/Thomas Bryant/Chuck, but something doesn't feel right. Shady isn't the right word for the NY basketball guys, but it's some "shade" of that. A lot of talk. If IU secures a visit, I'll change my tune. Just one of those see it to believe it things, I guess.

What is going on with Smith and IU? Always heard he was high on IU but didn't seem like they watched much during April. I know Buckley watched once or twice

Are they still recruiting Jose Alvarado and Sid Wilson?

There is definitely mutual interest there with Smith. He's a kid who IU has been on for quite awhile and I imagine they'll continue to make the push. He's also a high academics kid so he's getting a slew of schools associated with that after him. That could be something working against IU or could not be, idk, but it bears mentioning.

Haven't heard much about Sid Wilson but with him at St. Raymonds it's almost far fetched to come to the conclusion that IU isn't, at the very least, in contact still.

Between Justin Smith, Jordan Tucker, Sid Wilson and more recently Keldon Johnson and Savion Flagg, it's pretty clear Crean is looking for a 6'6 ish wing in addition/regardless of what the in-state class yields the program.

Alvarado I don't know, but probably something similar. Monitoring. He's at Christ the King so a few years of recruiting Rawle have established positive connections there. It's important to note how well respected Chuck is in the area. The guy has proven he's able to get IU in the door with anyone there. Anyone. There aren't a lot of schools who have that asset.

PG in general, idk. Obviously things have taken off between Coleman and Texas. Shaka established a relationship going back to VCU days when Coleman was a local product. They've sorta grown together, in a way, as Coleman has excelled and Shaka's situation/school has improved to where they can sell a great fit. I'm not saying it's a slam dunk, IU is in there and more will be known after officials are scheduled and taken but have to like that whole sales pitch.

Other guys may be like Scruggs at PG. IU is selling him on that, as is everyone else because that's what he wants to do. I'm not sure that's a wonderful idea in the short term but maybe he develops into it, idk. Xavier seems to be the talk of the town but I still lean IU. Waters feels like a long shot. Maybe they turn it up on a guy like Isaiah Washington out of St. Raymonds. He's a good player.

I may be missing one or two PG prospects IU is on but, my personal opinion is that if you miss on Coleman sit tight. The prize is in 2018 and IU is the lead dog...

When you say prize in 2018 are you referring to a PG or are you referring to someone else by the name of Romeo?

Yeah, if Scruggs and Wilkes comes true, I will consider that a success. Love the versatility of Jackson but we don't seem to be in the mix. He'd be my next want.

Those 2 plus a big guy for TB would be ideal.

If OG stays for his junior year, I think he will, then Jackson isn't a must get. OG at the 4 with Wilkes at the 3 would provide a great wing tandem.

Unless TB stays for his junior year we will need another serviceable big to backup or play alongside DD.

Is anyone else concerned that IU is in the mix with a lot of 5-Star recruits and after the dust settles, may end up not scoring on any of them? It seems like the Duke's and Kentucky's of the world have their pick of the litter. Everyone else is scrambling to be relevant.

Not really, I think we'll end up with a solid to great class that will complement the returning players. We might not get multiple 5 stars but we will get a stud or two.

Part of me prefers multi year 4 stars over the stud 1 and dines.  We still need that X factor guy. An Oladipo or a Yogi but my guess when all the dust settles people are going to see 2 very good guards in Newkirk and Rojo and 2 very good bigs in Morgan and Davis and think that would be a great supporting cast.

So much happens between now and the commitment. It's a domino effect. You are right that UK, Duke (I'd add Kansas) will have their picks then all the remaining dominos will fall into place. I see us having a strong class. Our fanbase does have to understand that we aren't going to get classes like UK and Duke but we can still bring in the type of talent that can help us compete for national championships. I think Crean is on the right track. Consistent signings of high ceiling, high character kids will keep us in position to win the B1G year in and year out. This allows us to be able to go out and have a strong pitch to the RIGHT 5 star impact recruit.
