Jones' commitments bumps Illinois' class up 2 spots to 7th overall in the B1G ahead of Minnesota and Purdue.

He’s a four star ranked outside of the top 100? Is that how it’s always been? I thought right around 100 is where it sorta cut over to 3 Star.

Seems like 3 or 4 years ago, or so, the top 25 players were 5 star, the next 75 4 star and then 3 star etc...

But I think it varies now and there are a lot more 4 stars.

Now they grade players individually and let the grade determine the star ranking. No set limit to how many of each star.

That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. Is it everyone who grades out at over .9000 5 star?

So is this class just stacked or is this normal? I don’t look at the rankings as much as I used to a few years back.

We have several 4 stars outside the top 100 in our 2018 class. Forrester and Anderson for sure and maybe RP (don’t remember where he’s ranked now).

Andersons top 100 by composite. RP is 105. Jake is 128

2018 1-26 5 star 27-135 4 star

2019 1-25 5 star 26-139 4 star, but the first 46 3 star  players are rated higher than the last 4 star in 2018.

The merging of 247 and scouts data bases caused some problems and a high number of 4 Stars according to Meyer back when they first did it. Look for the high number of 4 stars to go down next year

It's also an indicator that they're out on Courtney Ramey, or at least not willing to wait around. That was certainly an "interesting" recruitment

Always a wait and see on unknowns coming in. Last year they got one of the top grad transfers and a lot of people said Alstork paired with mark smith would be a dangerous backcourt.

Does he play the same position as TJD, Brooks or Watford? I just saw he was a forward. So that will probably knock them off of one of those guys.

He plays small forward. I read somewhere that their ideal class would be DJ Carton, Gaffney, EJ Liddel, and TJD. Expect OSU to continue going hard after TJD

Ohio State landed instate 2019 five star forward Alonzo Gaffney today. Some schools make it look so damn easy. Holtmann is getting it done there.

He is an absolute stud. At one point was billed as the best player in the class by some. IU had some early interest too.

Not to mention OSU was noted as Archie's dream job for years while he was at Dayton. I'm sure Holtman had his eyes on IU for a time as well. Very interesting

The 2019 Big Ten recruiting class is going to be loaded. Ohio State and Maryland are off to a start. Franimal's boy is going to Iowa. IU and Sparty are all in the running for big time recruits as well.
