Hoosiers219 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 IUs Nonconference schedule has been much-maligned. Obviously, this is rightly and justly so. This ostensibly would be easily remedied with the following:j Scheduling Kentucky and Louisville possibly on alternating years, but possibly both every year, would perpetuate regional rivalries, increase ticket sales, and bolster our floundering nonconference schedule. Scheduling one or more of the following,; Duke, Kansas, and any other perennially top 25 team. You need Three indisputable quality games w/ wins before the start of conference play. This would seem to be a no-brainer. Please make it happen. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I hate saying this, but our schedule has been very boring without the UK game. I don't want to play them while Calipari is there because I don't want to see us cave to his demands (not to mention they'd probably kill us the next couple years anyway), but at the very least we need an every-year opponent. The Crossroads Classic is small-time compared to many other non-conference events, and the Big Ten/ACC Challenge hasn't provided much intrigue lately either. Our schedule would be a lot better if we scheduled more local teams (MAC, Horizon, etc.) and stopped playing so many teams in the 300's. IUsafety, Alford Bailey and LIHoosier 3 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Well, we thought we would play Kansas and Vandy.... coonhounds, Class of '66 Old Fart and Bobman1 3 Quote
Str8Hoosiers Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 While I agree with the premise it is impossible to schedule all marquee matchups... Many teams play in the different tournaments and we had our chance this year to have several impressive wins, Vandy, Kansas, Duke, & Notre Dame all in non conference play... Sometimes things don't work out. I think the biggest change should be instead of the 300+ teams we can schedule the 150-200 teams, they would jump at chances for home and homes and although that doesn't benefit us as much and we would never do it that would be ideal.
